Terrible program. Absolutely awful. They kept my father for one day and then told him he wouldn't make it in their program. ONE day. They tried to say he wouldn't be strong enough to do their program after accepting him and knowing full well that physical therapy cleared him. This place screwed my sister and my father around and don't even care. They have no clue how much damage they have done- it will be a miracle if we ever get to convince our father to try another program. He's going to feel like he put himself out there and failed his one chance. If you care about your loved one and want them to get into a program that will actually attempt to help a willing participant, don't bother with this program. There are too many details to go into on what they put my sister through trying to work with them. I would give zero stars if possible.

My Fiance is going to be there today, and I was really worried about it. I am in treatment as well in another City. We are both doing this on our own will, but after reading these reviews I fell better. I truly believe that treatment is exactly what you put into it and how much you want to get out of it. So far the staff over the phone has been very helpful to him.

I have a family member going to Horizons soon for the third time. It’s always difficult supporting a loved one with addiction. Horizons isn’t a fancy place, but they accept medicare and my family member has always been treated with kindness. The nurses from the ER to the Inpatient program treated my family member as a friend and went out of their way to help her and look out for her happiness. That means a lot to me. If you have a loved one going to Horizons, you can feel secure that they will be cared for, even though generally it can be an emotionally challenging experience.

My fiancé, he ended up in the detox unit and afterwards upon release he had a packet full of rules and regulations of detoxing in the facility. It was stated the visitations are encouraged but when I spoke in E.R prior before the day he released I got told another story.nnSo if anyone from Horizon's you might want to take in account to change the rules so you're not pinned on lying.

They advertise they provide family treatment, absolutely not true in our case. Once a loved one is committed in there. Thats it! No pamphlets, no instructions, no information on what to do next, not even a staff member to show the families to the door. They leave you in a room after the hearing, and youre left sitting there wondering is someone coming in to get us? They absolutely do not involve families. Waited the whole next day for someone to call to let us know about the program. Nope, nothing. Had to call them, and had to pry the info out from the person behind the phone (im not talking about pt info, im talking about program info) very disappointed in our treatment as family to an inpatient. Horizons at mercy one waterloo is not a family friendly atmosphere in the least bit. This is our 2nd time around with the same treatment. Maybe its because it was a court committal, but shouldnt matter how a person gets there, we were still left with many questions and an awful feeling. ud83dude15
