Kimberly Roberts (05/29/2018)
I scheduled a first time patient visit with Dr. Kalyani Kumar. I searched reviews and they stated she was very professional and through; so I scheduled an appointment.nnI am a healthy, active and not obese female. Dr. Kumar was pleasant and very through, for my appointment 1/2/2018.nnI was scheduled 1/4/2018, for a Mammogram (results were normal) - plus a Pelvic, Transabdominal, Transvaginal Ultrasound. I questioned Dr. Kumar, why she did not order a complete blood work first, to see if I had an elevated White Blood Count or test for Uterine Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125) – since my Pap test was normal. This antigen is used as a tumor marker, for ovarian cancer.nnI had to come in twice, once for each test to learn my results were normal. This was very expensive for less than a minute for her to tell me everything was fine. I could have been called, mailed or emailed the results.nnI was then scheduled for a biopsy. I asked Dr. Kumar “why”, since results were normal. Her reply “to be sure”. Since I have one kidney, they lab ran bloodwork – ONLY to see if my one kidney, could tolerate the dye, needed for the biopsy.nnI asked Dr. Kumar prior to procedure, for a valium – which she refused. I experienced severe vaginal cramps and contractions – like I was having a baby for days and nights. I incurred pain and expense, which I believe was the result of an unnecessary procedure.nnI contacted St. Thomas Medical Partners, for a review of my chart. I believe, I was charged unnecessarily for tests and office visits, when lab work should have been done prior, to my having 2 expensive, out-of-pocket tests.nRequiring me to come for office visits, when I could received information at no cost to me, in other ways.nI am payed, for the procedures and visits: When I firmly believe, other decisive tests should have been ordered first. Dr. Kumar could have eliminated the need, for unnecessary procedures.nLook elsewhere - Unless:nYou want to be put thru unnecessary, expensive and painful, out-of- pocket testsnPay for an office visit, when you could have called, mailed or emailed results
