Parkridge Valley has consistently been there for me when I reach a point in life that I need help. I don’t know where I would be without their programs and staff. I’m very grateful for the personalized care I received here. They advocated for me to get the help I needed when I was there, and made sure I had help set up when I was ready to go home. I’ve completed both inpatient and outpatient programs here, and each of them have been important and meaningful steps on my journey of healing.

The only good thing about this hospital visit was getting to see Dr. Ibrahim. I was in a room by myself, manic, for 4 hours before I got a room. I was interviewed a couple of times during that waiting period. I saw a medical doctor, but I didn't see a psychiatrist until 25 hours after I had gotten into the room (29 since I got to the hospital).nThere was no routine. The nurses were in enhanced PPE, but we in the wing were not required to wear masks, even though we had someone sick in our wing.nEvery day we had a different set of nurses. So on the one day someone started yelling, they didn't know who it was. It wasn't even in our wing and they asked us twice who it was.nOutpatient was awful, and if I have a choice, I will never, ever do group therapy again.

I went there in late January 2020 for suicidal thoughts. It was amazing! I met great people, the employees were incredibly nice, and some of the employees and I had stuff in common. The food was better than the earlier places I went too. I thank everyone there on the adolescent side for helping me out and turning me into the incredible person I am today!

Beware the night shift.nnMy mom with cancer had to be rushed to the ER at 2:30 am, approximately 8 hours after admitting her to this facility, due to not being administered her medications. The ER had to tell me this as Parkridge Valley never notified us. She initially displayed psychiatric symptoms severe enough to warrant admission and was told she could either do so voluntarily, or be made to do so by a doctor. I kept this in mind when the ER was asking whether I wanted to bring her back home or send her back to Valley to continue treatment. We had to bring her back home because I would be ignored over the next 3 hours when desperately calling and trying to get answers and guidance on what to do next. Nobody ever returned my phone calls, and I was only told that she was no longer their patient and given no explanation or answers over what had transpired. All I wanted was somebody to talk to about what to do next.nnThis was a devastating and surreal first experience with a mental health facility which paints a bleak picture for the field as a whole. It's no wonder this society is facing an epidemic of suicides when a terrible facility run by apathetic people such as this are your only option.

I think they did a great job for the staff they have, which isn't enough but that's true everywhere. The nurses were wonderful and very caring and my doctor was very caring ss well. I did feel better after going there. If you are feeling suicidal or overwhelmed with depression or other issues, please get the help you need here. It is just a start as you have to continue your meds and follow up afterwards but it is a safe caring place to begin your journey towards a better life.
