St. Thomas West did not treat me for anything. They sent me to a different hospital and charged me $276. The bill I received from the hospital I was transferred to was smaller than this bill, and they actually treated me. St. Thomas West essentially took my temperature, told me to go to a different hospital, and charged me nearly $300. I have talked with customer service several times and every St. Thomas West agent I spoke with agreed that I shouldn't have to pay this bill. I also requested an itemized statement, which I never received. On two different occasions, a customer service agent promised they would call me back in a few days with an update. I never received either of those phone calls.nnGo to a different hospital if you have the option.

I went to the eye Dr. who diagnosed me with Horner's Syndrome, which means I tore the inside of my carotid artery in my neck! It could have resulted in blood clot and stroke or an aneurism. He sent me to the ER and I had EXCELLENT care from the ER and hospital staff and spent a night and day in the hospital. The only downside is that I do not have insurance. I was given a discount pay amount and then was able to be put on a payment plan. The bad part is after 8 months of good standing and payments being automatically drafted from my bank account, the hospital contacted me and demanded the full amount. I explained I was on a automatic draft payment plan and I didn't think they could send me to collections when they set up the payment plan? So, they then cancelled my payment plan and demanded the balance in full, over $4K and I don't have it to pay. Be careful of the billing department.

Nurse Saadia, Nurse Phyllis, Nurse Katie, Nurse Trisha, and Dr. Marlar were all wonderful to my mother in law, as she was recovering from a major surgery. I want to emphasize on Nurse Phyllis, for a moment, because she made such a scary, taboo subject much easier to handle. My mother in law had to get a, hopefully, temporary ostomy bag, and Phyllis came in to give us education on changing, cleaning, emptying, and general care for the bag. I know that she has probably given the same demonstration to countless patients, but you’d never be able to tell. She was calm, compassionate, and made my MIL feel so much better about the process, and me, as well. It takes special people to be nurses, but these nurses I’ve mentioned above, went beyond their call of duty, and made my MIL’s hospital stay a little easier for all of us. Thank you so much!

Absolutely do not go this ER. I made the mistake of going here when I had Covid complications. All went well until I received a sizable bill for a visit that included no tests and amounted to a 15 minute chat with the doctor and a prescription for steroids.nnWhy the large bill? Well, that is because in spite of being told flat out that my insurance was accepted by the hospital (it was), they left out the fact that the doctor in the emergency room DID NOT accept my insurance— a practice called “surprise billing” that is actually illegal in many states.nnI talked to my insurance company that maintained that they had offered their usual discounts, but I was blown off by the billing hotline. I went ahead and paid what was listed as my patient responsibility only to promptly receive a bill for the remainder. Good times.nnLong story short, do yourself and your pocketbook a favor and find a different hospital. Clearly this place is far more interested in nickel and diming.
