I planned a trip to Deep Creek Lake for my family. Before coming I researched nearby restaurants. I decided to make a reservation at Moon Shadow, two weeks in advance. The day of I called to see if I could come to my reservation a little bit early and they said that wasn’t a problem. Upon arriving they seemed disgruntled that we were there. They had to clean off a table which we didn’t mind waiting for. When we were seated our server acted as if we were an inconvenience because I asked for a draft list. She basically told us that they were slammed right before we got there and that they were trying to catch up so whoever our server was would get us the list. Okay. Understood. Once I received the draft list I asked if i could have a sample. Our server replied that I typically could but none of their dishes were clean so I’d have to wait. We decided to leave and go to Dutch’s where we had a wonderful experience. I am glad we didn’t spend our hard earned money on poor service.

Best Steaks We’ve Had in AgesnnThe four fillets we ordered tonight, and had delivered to Wisp, were the best steaks we’ve had at a restaurant in years. All were cooked to a perfect medium with a wonderful crunchy sear. The bacon jam was a delightful contrast of salty and sweet. Hats off to the chef!

Visited MoonShadow while on vacation and the grandparents watched our infant, so we had an opportunity to have our first date together in over a year. My wife and I got an early reservation at 5:30 PM and there were only a few groups there when we arrived. We sat outdoors and appreciated the spacing of the seating, and noticed some nice large grassy spaces where kids were playing while waiting for their meals. We immediately ordered everything when our waitress first arrived. The beer selection was decent and we both loved our beers. Unfortunately, our food took forever to come out. The deviled eggs were excellent, the filter mignon was slightly overcooked, the Salmon was good but not great. Overall we enjoyed the ambiance, the food was good but came out slowly, and the service was not great.

Always a great experience, and tonight was no exception. Well managed to work within Covid restraints and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating. The food was wonderful as always. One of the best of not the best restaurant at the lake.
