Cardiac team, nurses, and ICU took amazing care of my Father! I am so, impressed, and grateful to have had them working for him. He has Parkinson's disease, an aortic aneurysm and needed valve (finally) repaired. He is a retired surgeon himself, so making him comfortable and happy is ridiculously hard.
She just looked at me and knew something was wrong. Took care of problem I didn't know I had. She is caring above normal & has a great sense of patients well-being.
The good: there were SOME nurses and the therapy team members that were caring and kind.nThe bad: I honestly would not send my goldfish here to be treated. When I thought my dad was choking/vomiting, a staff member rolled her eyes at me then said “he’s not my patient” when I asked for help. We then got into a verbal altercation because of her attitude. Administration did not seem to care when I reported it. They performed more than one procedure without our consent/knowledge. The kicker was them transferring our dad without our approval (to a terrible treatment center) and then flat out lying, saying that they had talked to our family 3 days in a row, when in reality they mentioned a move (with no details) one time. Overall staff was rude and uncooperative to a family just scared and wanting the best for our incapacitated father.
My cousin, Rosemary, was a patient on 7 for several weeks after 4 weeks of being on a vent d/t covid.nnWhile I have a few concerns about the follow through of PT during Rosemary's stay, I was pleased with the thoughtfulness of the nursing staff.nnAs a retired nurse and one of Rosemary's few involved family members, I called regularly for updates. Without fail, the nurses with whom I spoke, graciously took the time to update me on Rosemary's condition.nnAs Rosemary's condition improved, there was talk about transferring her to a LTCF that would focus on Rosemary's PT. A list of options was given to Rosemary's daughter with instructions to pick her top three choices. The nearest place that would focus on PT (while not be re) was 100+ miles away.nnIt happened that I spoke with Lisa RN around the time that Rosemary's discharge from your unit was looming. In our conversation, Lisa said that Rosemary had made such progress and that she would be best advantaged by going to a rehab specific unit....and that there was one there at St. Joes. I asked her to put in a good work with whomever would be instrumental in making that decision. No one previous to Lisa had suggested that the 4th floor rehab might be an option.nnWell, lo and behold, Rosemary was evaluated for eligibility for the 4th floor rehab (physical and insurance coverage) and ended up being transferred there. This was so much a better choice for both Rosemary and the family...especially since soon after her transfer, the decision was made to allow one visitor a day. Rosemary's recovery surely was facilitated by family visits.nnI am happy to report that Rosemary went home last week.nnI truly think that Rosemary would not be home today if Lisa had not intervened in whichever way she did.nnThank you for the dedication of your staff.nnShow
Our father was sent to Select Specialty Hospital Ypsilanti (Ann Arbor) to be weaned off tracheotomy after a massive stroke. We got to know the team at Select very well during his stay. His case was challenging and respiratory therapist were up for the challenge! Every therapist, nurse, and nurse aide was attentive, caring, and eager to help. As any hospital setting, there were some communication problems, but far fewer than you experience in a regular hospital setting. We were very happy with his care!
