Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

My mom was a heart patient, with congestive heart failure so she was in and out of this facility, Fauquier Rehab & Nursing Center, (nicknamed FRANC) when she would be discharged from the hospital. It was terrible! They do not have a different heart healthy diet that they can offer to heart patients so I would have to bring her food up there twice a day. They could not control her INR, her blood thickness, and it would be all over the chart every day! Her legs will swell up within 24 hours of being admitted being on the high sodium canned food that they serve there!nnI have never understood this because the food at Fauquier Hospital is excellent, they have the dash diet for heart patients, and it all comes from “The Bistro restaurant located inside Fauquier Hospital. Since FRANC is located within the parking lot of Fauquier Hospital, and both are owned by Fauquier Health, wouldn’t it make sense if all their food came from The Bistro as well? It is a crying shame that we reserve the worst food, conditions and nursing staff for our Elderly!nnAlso they would not put the raised toilet seat with the safety handles on her toilet, even though we would request it over and over every time she was admitted! She fell one time between the toilet and the wall and ring the bell for a long time before someone came to help her and she had a huge hematoma on her leg as a result. Most places would have put the safety bars on the toilet after that but not FRANC! Since she was on diuretic she had to go to the bathroom a lot, but they wouldn’t answer her call bell which resulted in her either wedding herself or going to the bathroom herself. Then they would yell at her in either case, for not waiting for assistance!nnShe was not bathed regularly, and they always had some excuse for that.nnMany times my sister and I would take her home against medical advice, and many people don’t know that Medicare will still cover visits to the home to help with bathing and physical therapy.nnI do not recommend this place and I have talked to the administrators, and shared all my experiences and concerns, to no avail!
