I was taken to Whittier after a suicide attempt. The staff and doctors were incredible, I went to all the meetings and found out my case was not uncommon with men my age. I still don't know why I attempted suicide at the time I did. So any advice I can give is to seek help, on any early warning signs you may have or someone you know. Looking back now, over a year ago, I am so glad I was taken there. By the way the food was great.

My fiance voluntarily admitted himself to the ER for suicidal ideation on a Monday. He was not sectioned. He was expecting to be treated as such. His doctor kept him for 8 days, and refused to release him Friday because he missed 1 group that no staff informed him was going on at the time. The date moved to Monday, and then for no given reason, Wednesday, when his insurance ran out. Do not send your loved ones here.

I had a horrible experience here. It seems to me there should be some sort of separation between people with severe psychotic problems (i.e. so bad they are talking to themselves and throwing things and walking laps 24/7) to those with problems like anxiety and depression. I got NOTHING out of my experience here.nnThe psychiatrist was unhelpful and put me on a drug that my own psychiatrist later told me does absolutely nothing unless working in conjunction with another antidepressant.nnThey attempted to hold group sessions, which showed potential where we could discuss our problems and coping skills. But nope, these were overtaken by people screaming and talking over the counselors, and it was chaos the entire time.nnThe only advice I could give someone going here is 1) go somewhere else 2) establish you want to be released after 72 hours (the minimum holding time) ASAP 3) Have people bring you books to read, and snacks because the food is also gross and limited

The company is a tight knit group of people who really care for the place they work and their clients as well as eachother . I worked there for some time and got a lot of support from my peers. The social workers also offer a lot of time and effort to making peoples lives just a little bit easier. Working there felt like working with a family and I miss it. It's not very often that you work somewhere where you consider your co-workers good friends.

I went here figuring that the hosptial would have some sort of treatment for bipolar 1. As I was going threw a manic episode the nurses did nothing to relieve my symptoms. One nurse would always tell me to just breath and that did not help. I was in a mixed state and needed the right medication. I was appalled by the way they treated me when I needed help. It’s a dirty filthy facility and I hope they get shut down. DONT GO HERE EVER!!!! They did not give me the proper treatment for my episode.
