I wanted to support more Black-owned restaurants here in Denver and was also craving red beans and rice-enter Nola Voodoo Tavern! It is situated inside a well-decorated, clean, and cute space with a bar and some tables. The owner Henry came and disinfected the space right before sitting down which was much appreciated. The red beans and rice was A1 AMAZING, perfect kick of spice and acidity and the portion size was very generous! I also got a Hurricane drink which was mixed PERFECTLY and the perfect proportion of sweetness and alcohol. Overall I was VERY pleased and will definitely be coming back a lot!!
Red beans and rice were so flavorful, fried green tomatoes were awesome too. Had a blueberry pineapple upside down cake that was really fantastic. Great service and great food. First time there but absolutely not my last. Can't wait to have the red beans and rice again!
Don’t let the location fool you, this place gives you warm and welcoming feeling as soon as you step through the door. The staff is super friendly and you can tell customer service is an important value. Henry, the owner, is personable and you can tell this restaurant holds a special place in his heart. As for the food, it is beyond yummy. I got the Chicken and Sausage gumbo. While I would’ve like a bit more spice, the hot sauce they provide on the side added the kick and hint of salt I was looking for. Definitely recommend! *Black Owned Business*
The food of New Orleans. You can never go wrong. the gumbo is beautiful. Mac n cheese is great too. the hot sauce is not that bad too.
I walked in and felt the love in this place. Everything was authentic and tasted amazing. If there's a better spot for Cajun food in Denver, I ain't found it yet! We'll be back!
