I had knee replacement surgery 3 days ago, and the care I recieved at Beverly Hospital was amazing!! I was in a private room, so I felt like I was in a hotel! I will have all my surgeries here!nThank you to all of pre-admission, surgical nurses, post-OP and nurses on the 2nd floor!! I would highly recommend this hospital!!

I refrained on writing a review despite years of absolutely horrendous care from this emergency room. I had always gone here as it was local- but at all costs avoid and go to Salem. But tonight it hit me personally.nnTonight a patient of mine, unsurprisingly, received horrid care and while in pain was ignored while the nurse flirted with another employee at the nurses station so now I'm here to add on.nnWhat goes on at the nurses station is just the beginning. I had dozen of visits at Beverly Hospital ER for alcohol related ailments and withdrawals years ago before getting sober. When I went for actual illness it was assumed it was alcohol related and my care was delayed. Only once-- once they hired a recovery coach Tom-- was I treated like a normal human being in the emergency department.nnEvery time the nurses station would be buzzing with conversation-- within earshot of the rooms-- with talk about patients personal information and their personal opinions of said patients. I was so surprised but just assumed this was how hospitals operated until I actually went to a good hospital.nnWhen I was throwing up one night, although coherent, had a blood alcohol of .38 (I still have the paperwork). I was sent on my way after finding no other causes for the puking. That blood alcohol level teeters on death or dangerous withdrawal. I was given an outdated photo copy of nearby detoxes. I didn't even know what a detox was-- just that I was sick. A friend who also didn't know about alcohol treatment spent all night with me as I slipped into withdrawal- driving place to place. I ended up going home to drink so I didn't seize.nnI couldn't get in anywhere because no one told me what I was supposed to be prepared with. Just that photo copy of names and addresses.nnAs far as the one time I was admitted after a withdrawal seizure- care was good and I was comfortable. That being said, I left with prescriptions and doses unrelated to my seizure. When I followed up with my neurologist they weren't happy.nnSeriously- quality assurance is needed here. Get it together.

The care is horrendous! The front desk staff in the ER leave a lot to be desired. I was crying in pain and they showed no empathy at all. The nurse that inserted my IV said well it is what it is when I said that I couldn’t believe that I was in the hospital. As for the tech, I expressed that I was scared and he said well it’s your fault that you’re in here with chest pain. You worry too much. Relax, he said. To the PA, please don’t ever judge a book by it’s cover. You spoke to me like I was a five year old who didn’t understand the English language. Guess what? It’s the only language that I speak! There is so much more that I can put into this review but it would take hours. However, despite the cold mistreatment that I received I only have one nagging question. WHY WAS EVERYONE YELLING when they were speaking to me? From the receptionist, Tech, RN’s and PA? Forget about HIPAA... So to make a “long review short” the bottom line is this. The ER staff at Beverly Hospital need to seek another type of employment because they do not belong in healthcare. Please I beg you DO NOT GO HERE!

The reviews of the ER are exactly correct. I had a major seizure, my first ever. The ER receptionists have zero interest in my case. I passed out, almost fell out of my chair. Asked if I can lie down. The receptionist scolded me and told me to wait. There are literary 4 women behind the desk, chatting about the election andd weekend plans. They take data and then ignore us. I work in healthcare and have seen dozens of ERs. NEVER one this bad.
