We absolutely love Sophia's Hearth Family Center! Our daughter has been attending their daycare program since she was 20 months old and our son has attended since he was about 7 months old (they are now ages 2 and 4). As soon as I walked into the building for an open house I felt an immense feeling of peace and knew that this was the place where I wanted my children to be cared for while I am working. The set up and colors of the rooms are very calming, not over stimulating. There is also often a warm inviting smell of something cooking for the day's lunch (which the children help to prepare). The teachers have an unbelievable connection with children and a respect for the children. Children are encouraged to play and learn at their own pace. There is a respect for self-initiated learning and development. Children enjoy much storytelling and singing which are also used for transition times. There is a strong sense of rhythm. I am so thankful that we stumbled upon Sophia's Hearth because I have learned so much that I might not have otherwise learned about child development and parenting if we had not chosen this as our daycare provider. My children love it there and spend ample time outside exploring. The backyard is an amazing play space and was very thoughtfully created. There is a garden which the children love to tend. A wholesome organic lunch is provided along with snacks each day, which is a huge benefit, and is included in the cost of the program. They also have a diaper program where you can pre-buy your diapers so that you really don t have to pack much on a daily basis aside from extra clothes (because they do play outside a lot). I can't say enough about what an extraordinary daycare facility this is. The staff have become trusted friends and are always available to discuss any concerns I may have, and have helped us as we grow and develop as parents. Our community is extremely fortunate to have this high quality, and small scale daycare program. It will be a sad day for us when our children have graduated from the program and Sophia's Hearth is no longer a part of our daily routine.
