3.5 stars if I could. I feel like Ajax is good, and would be viewed more favorably if it weren't SO hyped. Service is quick--food out in under 15 minutes--but not exceptional. It's kind of dark/dirty inside, but some of the decor is cute. Portions are huge, but it's quite expensive. Of the chicken and dumplings, country fried steak, and turkey and gravy we tried, the chicken and dumplings were definitely the best. I've still had better, but they were pretty good. Surprisingly, very much of the food is SPICY. The dressing with the turkey set my mother's mouth on fire, which wasn't desirable. The best side we had was the Mac and cheese; I highly recommend that. Many of the veggies were over salted and slightly over cooked, but not bad.

Wow ! First time and the food was excellent! I enjoyed the chicken and dumplings along with the grits. Both were amazing. My husband enjoyed the thin pork chops which were tender and flavorful. The servers were friendly and the service was great. The prices are beyond reasonable. Ajax Diner you impressed us. Keep up the good work. Oh, and the portions are generous.

What a great find! Finally had proper southern cooking in Oxford, MS! The chicken and dumplings as well as the pork chops were amazingly flavorful and the ultimate comfort foods! Sides were great, too: butter beans 5*, collards 5* and green beans braised with pork 5*. Wanted to see if their banana pudding was the real deal- my husband was skeptical...one bite and he was sold. THE best real southern banana pudding we ever ate!

Eaten here an embarrassing amount of times. Great service great food. Cracker Barrel style menu, soul food, but premium, with premium service included. They definitely earn their tips here, unlike other places in oxford. 10/10 would recommend

Probably my new favorite place in oxford to eat. Reasonable prices and delicious food. A very soul food like experience and very nice wait staff.
