I hope to see this institution improve. They have great employees. Their staff in the branch is very kind and clearly wants to be helpful but even though they won't say it, you can tell that they too would like it if their bank was equipped to offer better tools and service for their customers. The fact is that UMB is lagging far behind in areas like mobile banking and just general ease of use of their website and apps. Shortly after we opened our accounts we upgraded our phones and found that the UMB app was no longer supported. That was way back when we upgraded from iOS 7 to iOS 8. At that time the app started to redirect us to their mobile web access which is difficult to use. So we waited expecting that an update would be out soon. iOS 9 arrived but no UMB app update. Our other accounts with with actually smaller institutions were keeping pace and adding features to ease use (fingerprint sign on, mobile check deposit, etc.). I went in and talked to a banker in the branch. Again they were friendly but under their smile they seemed just as disappointed as us. When iOS 10 arrived and there was still no UMB app update my wife and I decided it was time to close our accounts. We wish the best for this institution. It appears they have very loyal employees who will follow and promote improvements if and when they make them.
