I have been to Veritas twice. My first time there, which was in 2019, I was very compliant. Some of the TA's (therapeutic assistants) were very comforting and made me as safe as I could be, under the circumstances. Others were verbally abusive and did not care about the patients as much as they cared about the money they were payed just for being there. The second time (2020) was MUCH worse. The whole atmosphere changed and there was no organization. I did not feel safe there nor did many others. They work on weight restoration but do very little about the underlying elements. And yes, the weight restoration is important because you can think more clearly but if the underlying factors aren't explored- the patient is MUCH more likely to fall back into old habits when they leave impatient/go home.

It's a scary thing when your child(ren) has an eating disorder, and I am so glad we went to one of the leading doctors (Anna Tanner) who specializes in adolescent eating disorders. Veritas literally saved BOTH of my daughters' lives. Their knowledge of adolescent development is second to none and they do an amazing job of explaining what is going on biologically, mentally, emotionally and chemically to both the patients and the parents.

I can’t even start to explain how thankful I am for veritas collaborative, the staff, and all of the other patients. This was the scariest experience of my life and I hope you take this review seriously, especially as a former patient. I was there for 11 weeks, participated in their PHP program, as well as there IOP. I am soon stepping down to out patient and are continuing to work hard to live happily. I am doing 1000x better. Sometimes kids with EDs will try and manipulate their way out of a facility but please listen to the experts. I’m not sure why this place had bad reviews, because it was amazing. Give them a chance, let them work with you, and I promise it’s the best choice you will make for you, your child, and your whole family. I’m going to say it again, the staff were AMAZING!! I loved my team. They care about your child here, and if this place doesn’t work out, then they’ll transfer you’re child elsewhere. If you have any financial issues, veritas is there to work with you and your family. It can be so frustrating... but recovery is worth it. Please take this review into account, and other high-star reviews. Good luck to whatever situation anyone is in right now.

Intake and billing will lecture you about the history of your insurance company’s payment policy to their facility if they don’t take your insurance. This is a nationwide insurance company that serves the military and is listed as an out of network provider, and it says on the website to call them because they work with out of network providers. I do not know if it was just the people I spoke to, Marla and Kelly, or if everyone will tell you how your insurance company doesn’t pay and that is why they have stopped accepting it. I cannot speak to any other part of treatment, but if this is any indication of how they treat your children I would suggest you look elsewhere and find a more supportive and kind company.

We knew our daughter was thin, but had no idea how critically ill she was. After seeing a gastroenterologist, ruling out IBD, IBS, etc., we made an appointment with Dr. Anna Tanner at Veritas. Our initial meeting shocked us as we learned that our daughter was severely anorexic and urgently needed inpatient treatment. She had severe hypotension, bradycardia, and was in heart failure. Who likes a doctor who gives you such sudden, unexpected, horrible news after the first visit? Sure, I could have given Dr. Tanner a one-star rating, put my head in the sand, and go on with my summer vacation plans; but thank goodness we did not make that choice! Six months later, post inpatient treatment, and extensive outpatient treatment, we are indebted to Dr. Tanner and her staff! During that first visit, Dr. Tanner's straight talk was tough but necessary as it prepared us for the next steps - inpatient treatment. As we progressed with treatment, it was evident how much Dr. Tanner cared about every patient. She took time with us at every visit, never rushed, and was always thorough. Anorexia comes with many medical issues. Dr. Tanner is unique in her position because she is a pediatrician and has an excellent medical background with expertise in eating disorders, enabling her to provide the best medical care to her patients. There is no doubt, Dr. Tanner saved our daughter's life! It was not an easy road, but Dr. Tanner profoundly cares; she is intelligent and knows how to treat this horrible disease. We are so blessed to have her by our side and highly recommend her and her Veritas staff!
