My 69 year old mother set up an appointment as a new patient to come in and get established with this facility. During the screening questions for Covid 19, she told them that she hadn’t had any contact with anyone sick or positive. However, her daughter works in a hospital with Covid positive patients. She thought nothing of this statement, just a honest full disclosure. She was told that because of this information she would not physically be seen by a provider.nnCarilion Clinic’s policy is that anyone that has been in contact with any positive person cannot come into the clinic and receive a physical examination by a provider.nnSo they are saying that any health care workers who have devoted their time and energy to helping Covid positive patients are not allowed in their facility. And also by extension health care workers families are not to be seen by a provider either. For the simple fact they are our family.nnBecause we help Covid positive patients our families will not receive proper care. This is not right.nnIt is not safe practice to not physically examine a new patient who has never been seen by this provider before. My mother as a new patient should be entitled to a physical exam, her vitals to be taken, and blood work to be drawn. To know that she is being refused this right because I am a nurse who cares for sick patients hurts me so much.nnCarilion Clinic needs to rethink the care, or lack there of they are providing to health care workers and our families. And patients need to stand up and refuse this type of treatment. Health care workers and their families DESERVE proper medical attention. The type that Carilion Clinic is refusing to provide.

Carilion has changed my life and my longevity, starting Feb 2019. I had such positive experience with specialty services in Roanoke and Martinsville, I started primary care at the Martinsville location. They have yet to disappoint and I do not regret that transfer.nnStreamlined records management so the check-in process just verified the Roanoke offices'/hospitals' diligent updates of all personal information for contact, identity, and ICE or medical advocate notification.nnSpacious lobbies, so patients are not stacked atop each other, sardine sandwiched. As an asthmatic and immunocompromised individual, I appreciate the option to find a space further from infectious respiratory symptomatic patients.nnDoors are hands free, again limiting infectious disease. Lobby was very clean. The CMA who called for me at the security door was courteous and efficient, without being loud or coarse. They verified my medication history thoroughly, and obtained my current concerns and symptom changes for my chronic diseases.nnDr. Cole was very adept at perusing my record, and pointedly honing in on treatments and new diagnoses in the last year of medical care. She addressed my new issues, ordered my prescriptions, and related to me on a personal level, something I don't require to be comfortable with my medical team, but my senior mother and additional family definitely need and appreciate.nnDr. Cole thought to inquire about comorbid diseases and symptoms I had in the past, their status and control/management. I wasn't judged when I expressed vanity for my appearance, or my sarcastic humor that helps me cope with my pain and other people, mentally. She was intelligent, humble, and funny. Glad she came to Carilion in Martinsville and I hope she stays. I love a good D.O.! I miss my direct primary care model of medicine I had in Carrboro and Chapel Hill, but Martha makes me less nostalgic and more present when I'm in the exam room with her.nnMyChart is better maintained and setup for Carilion than I had at Duke. Staff responded to messages about therapies and obtaining records outside the Carilion clinics system quickly and with results. I lived on the phone with Duke Hub about my records outside Duke which still yielded no EMR update of the shared/transferred history and led to a fruitless, pointless waste of specialty co-pay and large amount of time and commute to plan being off work, losing income when I was employed. Guess private Duke medicine management is less organized than nonprofit Carilion? Wowza!nnQuest Diagnostics phlebotomy team was once again capable, efficient, accurate, and friendly when I had my blood drawn, as they almost always are in Roanoke and Martinsville Carilion offices. Rechecks on my periodic repeat labs monitoring my diseases will be more accessible for me at Martinsville, so I don't drive further, or hike up to the floor I need through large parking decks in Roanoke. On high pain days, this is crucial.nnThanks Carilion FIM Martinsville, for being the difference in medical care and management, setting standards and providing excellent service, front to back, everywhere in between. If my second doctor visit goes well, I will refer one of my sisters and my mom here as well.

Many of times when I call for an appointment or to leave a message for my doctor, no one will answer the phone. I have waited up to 30 minutes before!

The doctors, nurses and staff are excellent. I have been with them for a year now and have never had a bad experience and i have had several appointments. They are always friendly and always fast and when you tell them something is wrong they do everything to figure out why and how to help you.

To be patient profiled because of the color of my skin was completely baffling to me. Dr. Jaff, didn't take a full second to speak with me about my main and only concern which was my asthma. Instead he looked at my medical records seen i had eleven surgeries and assumed i needed something habit forming, when the only thing i walked into that office to get refilled was my inhaler. But instead I left without even a prescription. So I have to be confined to my home so I do not trigger an attack until I am able to find another provider. Unless i want to go to the er for temporary treatment. When you have doctors that allows the color of your skin dictate the treatment you receive it causes a lot of malpractice lawsuits. I am highly disgusted with the treatment i received today.
