Although many of the staff (tellers) at Tompkins trust are absolutely sweet and helpful, the bank as a whole does not have ethical business practices. When I first started banking with Tompkins trust ( I was still an adolescent), a couple a decades ago, the bank didn’t charge overdraft fees at all. Even of you were just a kid with not a much of an account balance, you simply couldn’t withdrawal or make a purchase if the funds weren’t there. At some point this changed and overdraft fees start pouring in. One big problem I see with this is for customers that have both a checking and a savings account. Even if you have thousands of dollars in your savings account, that should essentially back up your checking account (in the event that one accidentally overdrafts) they still charge you an overdraft fee. This is absolute insanity and greed! Giving the bank your life savings and they can’t even give you your own overdraft protection with the Savings account?! It’s not enough for them to make tons of money on interest rates for loans and collection of insurance premiums every year, they have to charge petty and unnecessary overdraft fees, even for lifetime customers with plenty of funds between two accounts. I’m on my last leg with this institution and would like to support a business that doesn’t try to shiest people.

I have been banking here for 30 plus years before it was a Tompkins Trust. The tellers are really rated a 5 stars! Laurie, Michelle and Evelyn are the best and are always willing to do whatever they can to help with anything. If it were not for the tellers I would most likely change banks. The only reason for the 4 stars are that they are no longer open on Saturday's, which would be the main reason I would change banks. I hope the main branch realizes the tellers at this branch is why most people stay with this bank.
