I give this spot a thumbs up. I'll return with my friends. The bill was decent.

I loved the charm of this hotel in a heritage building. I found the staff very friendly. It's a great location too, within walking distance of the train station and the casino (I was in Schenectady to see a band perform there).

The room was amazing, but so is the building, and Christian the manager that night provided an amazing service. A trove of information, very helpful dedicated to his job and to the hotel. I needed an hotel with something different and clearly not a chain. The Stockade is amazing with a rich history a strong cachet and has a very dedicated employee with Christian.....Many thanks

The inn has a very comfortable ambiance. My room was spacious and very clean. I looked forward to walking down the staircase each morning to get my breakfast and bringing it up to my room. The staff was warm and welcoming. I will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful, well-maintained 19th century building in a historic district of Schenectady, 4 minutes from Union College. The hotel, over all, has the feeling of a stately home of a wealthy family from the 1800s. The room was spotless, with really high ceilings and windows. Heating came from a single radiator unit, but the room warmed up surprisingly quickly. Beds felt new (firm mattress, no lumps), and the room had some elegant touches, like a central chandelier. The bathroom was spotless. Being an older building, it took a few minutes for the shower to warm up, but there was plenty of hot water once it did. The bathroom was shower-stall only, which worked fine for me. The doors are locked at 10pm, but when we arrived after midnight, the night manager answered after a single ring and was at the door to let us in within seconds. He offered us water or coffee before sending us off to bed, and both he and the morning manager were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is not friendly to the mobility impaired. There was no wheelchair accessible entrance, and there are several steps to get to the front door. All of the rooms are upstairs, and the single elevator seems too narrow for a wheelchair. The event space looks lovely. Continental breakfast was muffins, bagels, fresh fruit, single-serving cereals or oatmeal, and bottled water or juices, in addition to coffee or tea. Nothing fancy, but a pleasure to eat in the leather library chairs or in front of the sitting room fire (gas). Parking is not well-marked but is abundant and accessible in lots behind the building or across the street. Would definitely stay again.
