(sandusky location) Not quite as gay as the name implies. When I originally looked up the reviews of Ryans there were many contradicting opinions which did not help me in the decision making process. I was quite hungry and decided to eat there anyways, as it is buffet style dining, to see how it was for myself and then make an honest review of my own. As far as the food goes it was all cooked properly and you got what you expected. The kitchen microphone gave you a very intimate feel when ordering your steak. I felt like I was at the bank drive thru teller but instead of cash I got steak cooked to my liking! What a concept.... Our waitress, La Toya, was very polite and refilled our drinks aptly. We tipped her a deserving $8 (for the 3 of us eating). One of the other waiters, who’s name i will not disclose, really gave the place a great asmosphere and provided some slight gay vibes. He was very nice and talkative even tho he wasn’t our personal waiter. He recited the entire Paw Patrol theme song which was quite impressive to say the least. Now let’s get back to the food... The mashed potatoes were very dank and flavorful but I’d only recommend a small portion because they were rich. The cajun fish was by far the best entree and seasoned to perfection. The honey yeast rolls were as to be expected, tasty. On to desert. I tried the chocolate lava cake with some vanilla ice cream on top. It was very good but the filling was an odd consistency, sort of like jello. We also snatched a honey roll to go and they didn’t even try to stop us. The undisclosed named waiter just smiled and told us to have a great night. We even stayed past their closing time of 8:30 which is unheard of where we come from but they didn’t even try to push us out the door. Finally my overall rating of Ryan’s. If you were to make a rating scale of chain buffet restaurants Golden Coral would be at the top, deservingly with a rating of 5. At the bottom would be Ponderosa with a generous rating of 1. Ryan’s would fall somewhere in between with a rating of 3. For a first time visit I had a good experience and would return if I found myself in the Sandusky area again. UPDATE: (3 hours later) I don’t feel so good...
