Social on State

This is a hidden gem with a NY City Vibe. You can order tapas (small plate items) or delicious entrees. The waitress was very attentive to my allergies. Photos include the Wedge Salad, Atlantic Salmon with broccoli and potato puree, and the Beef Short Rib with shaved crispy brussel sprouts and potato puree. The father and son sitting at the table next to us said that their Mac n Cheese is the creamiest and tastiest they've ever had!

Had dinner and drinks here Sunday night and it was really good. It was nice to get out and feel like things are normal for a while. I ordered two of the crispy pork belly tacos, and they were so good I ordered two more. Honestly, probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The wait staff is beyond rude almost like they are better than you. My husband and I had to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation to sit down, and then another 25 minutes before the waitress even came over to take our drink order. Food is WAY too expensive for what you get. I understand paying for quality, but I'm not sure that this is the case here. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. They are several places in the Southern Tier that are way better (both food and service) and this joint.

Made a reservation for 8pm, got there at 7:50 and didn’t end up being seated until almost 9pm. Once we were seated, we waited another 10 minutes until the waitress finally took our drink and appetizer order. That then took another 20 minutes to come out. She dropped it off at our table without saying a word then came back, I kid you not, 30 minutes later asking “did you guys want to order food?” No ma’am we’re just here to hangout, I mean cmon. We ended up leaving the restaurant at 10:15. Food was pretty good, not spectacular and it was very expensive. Hostess and waitress were both very rude in general. But the bartender was awesome and very attentive so the 1 star goes to him.

It was 37 minutes until they took our drink order (which was 7 minutes after talking to the host again) and left 13 minutes after that when we still had not been acknowledged. We came here with a party of 4 for my birthday dinner, and had reservations. That’s an incredibly poor way to run a business. I came up from Long Island to visit my brother for my birthday, and because of the time we wasted at this restaurant, and with COVID restrictions, we were unable to find a place to eat. After the 37 minutes wait, the waitress also did not apologize, nor acknowledge anything about us. A table of girls wearing next to nothing was sat and served before we were even given water, to give you an idea what type of people work here. I eat at a lot of restaurants and I give each an opportunity to impress me. Social on State has squandered that opportunity.nnEDIT: Choosing to respond with a snarky comment about writing a review about your miserable restaurant experience is why you will eventually fail. The waitress in question (undoubtedly a savvy Binghamton student) is as suited for the food service industry as the social media manager of Social on State is at replying to customer’s honest reviews. And by that, I mean not at all. If you paid closer attention,you would’ve also realized that I did not comment on facebook, and it probably didn’t take an hour to type out these few sentences, although I don’t have that cute paper liberal arts degree from a SUNY. The brilliant waitress in question attended the table next to us 5 times while we sat. The host was spoken to 3 times. Clearly there is a service and attitude issue with your establishment, as seen in a number of reviews. Please, I beg of you, whoever is reading and responding to these reviews, reconsider your path in life. And if the owner is reading this, good luck. You’ve hired abject incompetence.
