Purchased 3 different dinners for takeout. All were excellent!! Will go there for a sit down meal in the future.

Maria's is a must hit stop while in Portland. The atmosphere was nice and warm, overall very comfortable. Staff were very nice, and the waitress was constantly checking in. Food was very good, classic hearty Italian. The food served in pans was not only unique but was also a great way to ensure food was hot when it hit the table. Everything was very flavorful and our whole party enjoyed their food and dessert, and it was all fairly priced. I would definitely go back in the future.

Extremely professional and friendly staff. When dining there, you get the feeling that you're in a small family restaurant in Italy. Loved the music. The food was delicious A++. Don't forget dessert- all the Italian favorites!

I was nervous about all the bad reviews. And really hoping that we would be one of the five star ones. Unfortunately, the food is just not that good. Service was awesome for sure. But the food just has no flavor. The pasta definitely tasted like it was industrial or boxed. we had the fried ravioli, which was actually good, but I have had very similar at any sports bar. I suspect it was frozen and then fried. The mozzarella fritter could have been great, and the tomato tomato sauce was great, but it was just sort of lukewarm, so the mozzarella didn’t really melt that much. And then the fried shrimp spring rolls, completely random for an Italian restaurant, but who doesn’t love fried shrimp spring rolls? Except, they were definitely the frozen kind that they just threw in a fryer, and then they served it with their tomato sauce. Am I the only one that thinks that’s really weird? For dinner we got shrimp scampi, chicken Parmesan, veal Parmesan and the veal saltimbocca. Everybody wanted copious amounts of salt, pepper and Parmesan. and they serve everything in the sauté pans they cooked it in. supposedly, from past reviews, it’s because they want it to arrive at your table piping hot. None of our entrées, two of us served with sauté pans, were piping hot. In fact, they were just luke warm (We arrived at 7:30, and with the pandemic, tables are spaced out properly, so there are really only about 15 people in the dining room at this point). they only had three options for dessert, tiramisu, pistachio gelato, and some kind of apple bread pudding. We passed. I was rooting for you Maria’s, and I do think your tomato sauce is good, but the food just wasn’t worth the pricetag. And unfortunately, wasn’t worth returning for. I am bummed, because we really need good Italian food in Maine, and I love the idea of supporting a local restaurant that has been around for a long time.

Waitress was terrible. We ordered drinks and appetizers and you could see her whole body language change. It went down hill from there. What she didn't know was it was my birthday and we were going to spend some money. We had I beg for a straw and ice. At that point we knew it was over. The appetizers came out ice cold and her attitude was terrible. The evening was ruined. I been going to Marias for over 30 years and have never had service like that.
