Niswonger Children’s Hospital

My 2 year old son had to have surgery and we stayed at the children’s hospital for 5 days. Everyone that we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. All the pediatric nurses were amazing! They would go out of their way to make us more comfortable. One of our night nurses “Bonnie” went above and beyond when we had a scare with our son to make sure that everything was ok with him. She took such good care of him and even stopped by to check on him on her way home. I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am for her and her attentiveness towards our son.

I highly recommend taking your children here! We live in Bristol and will never take our 9 year old daughter to any after hours urgent care or emergency in Bristol. We were out here last night 3/11/21 from about 10pm-2:30am and we received the most amazing care from all of the staff! I will start with the nurses and say that they deserve recognition for their love and compassion. I wish I knew their names but they were on shift at the date and time listed above. They went above and beyond to take care of my daughter and made her feel at ease every single time they came in. The nurse practitioner was a female and was suppose to leave at midnight but stayed over to make sure all the tests that were needed to be ordered was taken care of. She also went above and beyond with her care and was extremely thorough and listened carefully to our concerns. The other doctor that came on shift afterwards around 1:00 am was just as great as all the rest of the staff. I can honestly say that they did everything as quickly and carefully as they could all while keeping us informed and at ease. We will highly recommend and will use this facility from here on out for any after hours care needed. Thanks so much to all the wonderful women who cared for my daughter last night!.....I also wanted to add that two of the most amazing nurses made my girls night because they pretended to compete against each other trying to end the night being her favorite and I have to say that they both were her favorites!.....update: I just wanted to post the names of the amazing ladies that provided the care so please forgive me if the credentials are not exact but Nurse practitioner Sharla, Nurse Rachel Phillips, and nurse Rebecca. They truly deserve recognition for their kind and caring hearts! Thanks for everything

I was sent to the Niswonger Children’s Hospital from my local hospital 2.5 hours away due to my daughters broken ribs and pancreas being bruised and inflamed and not knowing about how severe it really was. They sent us for the pediatric surgeon. I had to follow the ambulance and was about 15 minutes behind them, and when I finally arrived to the hospital, my daughter was in the ER with a bunch of nurses with her. She was very well cared for and they were super sweet. As we waited for a room, they brought her tons of stuff to do to keep her busy like coloring items and painting items.nnWe finally got in our room and we’re greeted by so many nurses that were super upbeat and nice. They had the room waiting with a stuffed animal on the bed for my daughter. They all took great care of her and checking in on her and making all of us feel as comfortable as possible. Her main nurse, Renata was AMAZING! She made us all feel welcome and took EXCELLENT care of my daughter. When she found that my daughter was finally able to eat, she was right on that phone getting her something up here. My daughter had to do a number 2 and was so embarrassed bc we had a misunderstanding and she used the toilet hat to collect it and the nurse had to see it. She did AMAZING at comforting my daughter so she wouldn’t feel embarrassed. Same when she had an accident in the bed due to all the fluids they were pumping in her. They made her feel comfortable and not embarrassed.nnThe whole team of doctors we have met were super amazing as well. They all were all very nice, informative and made you feel like they cared and had my daughters best interest in mind. They all have education and know what they are talking about. Especially Dr. Taylor, the pediatric surgeon.nnI hope you don’t have to come here, but if you do, just know you’re in wonderful hands :)

They Doctors in the ER were absolutely amazing. The nurses and surgions were so nice and friendly. They made me and my daughter feel at home. Took amazing care of her. I'd recommend anyone take their children there. They always made sure my daughter had everything she needed.

I couldn't be more thankful for the immediate attention and care my child was given during the emergency and stay. The entire staff is wonderful and made me and my child as comfortable as possible. Thank you all so much!!!❤
