Overall kind, timely and great communication. Loved all the staff! Dr Hill was fantastic!

Two weeks ago I visited the ER at this hospital. I was the victim of a serious dog attack and unfortunately sustained significant injuries. On arrival I was greeted courteously, promptly taken back, and almost immediately attended. Dr. Hill was superb, as was the ER nurse Julie(?). These fine health care professionals treated my wounds, and assisted in reporting the incident to animal control. I'm still recovering but doing much better, which I put down to the excellent treatment from this hospital.

To say my care at Ashe Memorial Rehabilitation has been enriching is an understatement. Judy Saas, my physical therapist, is an amazing professional. Her approach to my care has been thoughtful, organized and creative. Her efforts have permanently improved the quality of my life. The entire staff is friendly and I always feel welcome. Thanks to everyone for such excellent care!

The doctors and staff are always kind to me and my family when we do come there. They’re usually good with my children if I have a sick child. However, I am highly disappointed that the Ashe ER is basically a place for people to be stabilized and shipped elsewhere or just sent home. I have been extremely weak and pale for weeks now. I am pregnant. Every call I make to my obgyn they tell me to go to my closest ER immediately for IV fluids, to have my thyroid levels and vitamin and mineral levels checked, get copies of the results and get immediate help because they are booked full at the obgyn office. I’ve been to Ashe Memorial twice in the last month. Due to electrolytes checking “with in normal levels” I was refused IV fluids both times. Both times all that was checked was for SEVERE dehydration and an UTI. When I questioned the doctor and nurses today I was told by the doctor it would take days to get the other results back so there was no use in doing them & told by the nurse that all they’re allowed to check for is MAJOR immediate issues and nothing else because they are a limited resources facility. Where I lived before here, I never had these issues. The hospital from my home town even told me I was pregnant and about 12 or 13 weeks along just by BLOOD work - I went to think thinking my appendix had ruptured, had no signs of pregnancy & they drew blood to check for everything from pregnancy to appendix to cancer and took great care of me. I have never been denied IV fluids before either. No where else has ever said my electrolytes were fine so there’s no need for fluids. Everywhere else looked and saw how pale I am and how hard to access my veins was and gave me IV fluids regardless of if electrolytes checked out okay. Even Boone did that even though they’re supposedly in the same system with the same limited capabilities (ud83eudd37ud83cudffb‍♀ufe0f)nnLast, It is also disappointing to be told by my obgyn to go to the Ashe ER immediately (because it’s closest to me) for x,y, and z just for the ER to say “we can’t do that” because they’re either not allowed to or don’t have the capability to.nnSo while the staff is kind and I’m sure they’d keep you from dying, I wouldn’t recommend going to the Ashe ER unless you’ve been in a horrible accent or are deathly ill. Otherwise you’ll sit there for hours and waste your time & money and theirs as well.
