I was admitted to Parrish Medical Center in January 2019 so it's taken me a while to post a review. I went in for severe pain in my stomach. After some scans, the ER doctors said it was appendicitis. Following that, about 3-4 doctors on rotation after that also confirmed it was appendicitis. I was prepped for surgery when the surgeon said this isn't appendicitis. No one could tell me what it was. After spending a night, I asked for an evaluation or to be let go. They said they had no idea why they told me it was appendicitis when it wasn't. I owed about 25K before insurance for a 1 night stay and several scans that were inconclusive or eluded to appendicitis which I didn't have. I tried to understand how a non surgical stay could cost so much. Is it because I had insurance so the prices were bumped up? The only stars I have go to the nurses who were attentive and caring.

I spent hours there. First told to stand outside, someone will be with you. I sat in. 90+° on a wooden bench. That night the doc called and told me to go to ER. I sat in there thinking I'm having another stroke! People were hacking. I followed a couple out after they sat there 2 1/2 hours! Elderly and sick!nParrish Medical Center is horrible. At one time, a wonderful institution but now, they have gone downhill!

UPDATE: the staff who I encountered that night were let go. They misdiagnosed me and falsified my paperwork. My diagnosis was life threatening. It’s incredibly sad that these experiences happen in our medical field and more so when it’s right in our backyard.nnSpent 4 hours in the waiting room of the ER. Almost every employee was very rude and gave the impression I was an inconvience. I inquired as to why it was taking so long and people were being seen before me, when I had arrived before them, and was provided with the explanation that my issue was considered “major,” so they take the “minor” issues first. I’m not a doctor, but pretty sure this is NOT how triage is supposed to work. No one could give me any productive answers to questions such as, “ what is the next step,” when I finally did secure a room in the ER. A patient is supposed to be checked on every hour while in the ER, I went over 2 hours before seeing someone and if I needed something, I had to take my IV out to the hall with me and attempt to catch a random employee to ask for help, even just to go to the bathroom. Begged for a pillow and was laughed at and said they don’t have those “luxuries” in the ER. While searching the cabinets in my room for an extra blanket came across a disgusting, gooey-filled cabinet. How gross!!!!! The bedside table also had a drawer and was filled with the same yellow, gooey, nasty substance. Obviously this place is not very clean. At all. I honestly can’t stress enough how terrible my first and only experience was here.

My husband was admitted in the hospital from the ER on 8/28/20 and had the best care from there to the 5th floor Nurses, CNA’s and all the Dr’s that attended to him. The kindness and care from them all is to be commended. Thank you to all who cared for him. (Sandra, Elizabeth, Vicky, Glenda and Loretta) My husband said the entire working 5th floor was very professional and kind.
