During my brother’s recent visit, I saw nothing less that professionalism, care, and genuine concern for Ronald during his recovery from December 19, 2020 – 7 January 2021. Sheltering Arms Institute really does have the State-of-the-Science Rehabilitation Research Hospital and I am sure my brother would “not” have healed, physically or mentally without the help of the Institute and the great services provided to him.nOn behalf of his family, we sincerely thank you for a JOB WELL DONE!

Sheltering Arms is the best rehabilitation facility around. It is a new, beautiful, and well staffed facility that I would recommend to anyone I know.

My husband was in a motorcycle accident in June of 2020, which resulted in a spinal cord injury. It left him paralyzed from the waist down. He spent 2 months at Sheltering Arms. Our experience with this facility was great! The PTs & OTs are amazing! They’re so patient & helpful, you can tell they really care. They helped him get stronger and taught him to be a little more independent. He still has a lot of work to do now that he’s home, but he can now do tasks he couldn’t do before. His hands were completely closed when he first got there, now he can hold his own cups and can even feed himself!nnI do wish communication was better, I feel as though they didn’t really keep me updated on what was going on with my husband. If I wanted to know something I had to ask him. I expected more from his Doctor. I know the doctors can be busy, but one update out of the week would’ve been nice. Also, I only had one day of training with him prior to him coming home. Thank goodness I had CNA experience, anyone who didn’t would have been struggling.nnOther then that, we had a great experience. Special thanks to the PTs & OTs, Drew, Dani & Ben. They were awesome! ❤ufe0f

My brother has been extremely ill since Dec 2019; in and out of the hospital and various nursing and rehabilitation facilities. He would start to recover and then fall back into the hospital. In June of 2020 he was admitted into Sheltering Arms Institute in Richmond. During his stay he improved more than he has anywhere. The doctors, therapists, nurses, case management and staff are so professional and have clearly shown a personal interest in my brothers’ care and wellbeing. My brother received physical, occupational and speech therapies and the therapists deliver consistent and progressive therapy needed for my brother's care. As a result of the care my brother has received at Sheltering Arms, he will finally be able to discharge home! The doctors are hands on, they took a personal interest in my brother communicating with him daily, and they also communicated frequently with the family {me} with medical status and updates. Lastly, Admittance and Case Management thoroughly handled my brother's intake and are working on discharge arrangements and keeping me well informed along the way. We are thankful that my brother has had the opportunity to rehabilitate at Sheltering Arms and we feel that Sheltering Arms has been instrumental in the level to which my brother has recovered. Based upon our experience, we highly recommend Sheltering Arms Institute for anyone in need of rehabilitation at any level. As a side, my brother admitted into this facility the day it opened in Richmond and was amazed at the state of the art facilities provided.
