Matiz Shore House

For drinks they had a decent selection and they were pretty good.nnAppetizers were really good but a bit pricey for their portions.nnEntrees had decent portions but the food was pretty average and not worth the price.nnIt has great atmosphere but you're better off getting your food elsewhere.

Went to Matiz the other night with my wife for dinner. Food was great, service was great. Our server Juliana went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied. We’ll be back for sure!

Well worth the walk. We were staying at Ocean and decided to walk to Matiz. It was estimated by google maps as a 32 min walk but it was more like 40. When we got there, we were greeted very nicely and seated quickly. The yuca croquetas were slamming. We ordered two more. The shrimp cheviche was amazing with hints of flavor of passion fruit and lime. Their attention to detail in plating spared no expense. Some of the drinks and dishes had orchids as part of the garnishing. My sons burger had the Matiz name stamped on the bread. The food was equally beautiful to look at as it was to eat. Their google pictures are an accurate representation of what you get which is rare. We ordered the Salmon over Quinoa, Pabellón, the skirt steak and la Bandera. All were delicious with almost every aspect of the dish being full of flavor. The ambiance was awesome with great Latin background music. This was a win a well worth the walk.

Friendly staff but inattentive service. Food was just ok (chips that came with the guacamole were generic and clearly store bought; snapper texture was strange; could use more fish options). Wine selection was disappointing (no wine list, server had to read off a couple of poor varieties from her notepad). Ambiance had potential but looked unkept. Fix these issues and the place could be good.
