A great experience and atmosphere - the food is good (although I have yet to try any of their signature plates - which are highly touted), the drinks and prices are even better.nnThere are plenty of TVs for watching the games, the music is mostly a nineties rock/alternative feel but not overbearing, and the bartenders are very welcoming. From a décor standpoint this is not fancy, nor is it meant to be - the crowd averages 40 and the chatter is lively - it is a great dive bar to have a drama-free evening.nnI have already stopped in a few times on my limited stay in Portsmouth.
Went in expecting a typical pub, but it was way better than we thought. Great food, great drinks, we had an awesome waitress, and the solo guitar/singer was great. Very glad we chose to go here.
Love the Statey. Rumors of its closing are false. They may be moving in a year or two... maybe.
Great people, accepting people. They treat people like people. Bartender and bouncer are nice good kind people. The people you want to do business with. Unpretentious, caring people. I make sure to stop at Stateys every time I'm in Portsmouth.
This is a great neighborhood bar with good food, plenty of televisions for sports and a wonderful wait staff. you will enjoy this place. You will feel very comfortable once you're in there as well.
