Mad River Tavern

We stopped in after a hike and enjoyed some great comfort food! We requested an outdoor table (even though it was chilly) and were the only ones outside. They’re very covid-safe here so we appreciated that! Our server was really friendly, service and food was quick. We’ll definitely come here again for some post-hike nourishment!

The waitress was friendly and was trying to be efficient as it seemed like she was being pulled into many different directions. However, the food was not good. We shared a bacon and scallop chowder, which I thought had a weird taste, and was barely even warm, and our entrees were shrimp scampi and chicken broccoli Alfredo. Both were very bland. The bill was $52. I don’t mind paying that for good food, but this was not worth the money!

It was very clean, family setting. They take covid seriously. Food was delicious. Everyone is friendly and polite

We loved setting outside but the food was subpar. I had the tavern Burger. A lot to be desired.

I was trying to support local business while visiting Compton and with all the craziness during Covid, although a lot of restaurants are struggling, that is still not an excuse for poor food quality and burnt food. We decided to pick up two burgers last night (the tavern burger and a cheeseburger), we asked for medium well and got two literally burnt burgers that was dry and un-edible. We asked for garlic fries on one of the orders and received cheese fries that was soggy and not even a piece of aluminum was used to keep the fries crispy and warm.nnIt was a Friday night and we were the only take out order at that time. I’m not sure how they expect to survive when they can’t even get a burger right. Sadly I won’t be returning here.
