My experience as a patient in BHU from June 21-25 was MOSTLY positive. Once I realized that I really needed to be there and I really needed to get better I was able to cope with the routine and observe all the therapists and medical staff do wonderful work ministering to the needs of all the patients according to their treatment plan.nnHaving been an educator for most of my life and lived and traveled through the US, Europe and Asia, I considered my stay as an opportunity to meet new people and be part of a brand new tribe. I appreciated all the supportive advice and knowledge i received while i was there.nnNow the one missing link, the one fail was my discharge from the BHU. It was a failure from 4:00 to my final rush to the Emergency exit. But even beforenthat , the discharge info, which was read and reviewed by a nurse was not organized in a orderly fashion. Yes, I THOUGHT I understood and comprehended it all,..... but it was placed in a big white plastic bag. It should have been placed on the care of my husband.nnMajor disconnect between BHU and my local care provider was a HUGE obstacle for me on my journey toward wellness. Thankfully, I made it to almost well. Today is July 14. I didn’t take a certain medication until 8 days after discharge! I pray no one else has to work that hard to recover.

Staff does not care about patients from what I can tell. Patients do NOT get to see their children or go outside at ALL. I guess I don't see how that helps anyone GET BETTER AT ALL. I got hung up on by the staff after I asked to speak with someone about the reason why the patient could not see their 7yr old son after being in the facility for over 3 weeks. Got told they have to be over 19yrs old eventually. It's crazy that convicted murderers get to have visitors but they do not. I would love to have that explained to me.

Staff is rude. Nurses are incompetent.
