The food sucks

Service was nice and fast. Food was really good. I had whiteriver burger and fries. Everthing was done right.

Always wanting to try local restaurants when we travel, the positive Google reviews for Helen’s put it at the top of our list for Chadron. We went for lunch between noon and 1pm on a Wednesday. It wasn’t busy. Took a bit to be greeted and not really taken to a table by anyone. There was no sign to wait to be seated, but times are different now with social distancing and such, we didn’t know if we could just sit anywhere. Plus, we were a party of 7, needed a larger table. One of our family asked about a daily special. The waitress replied, reluctantly, that the specials were written on a board as you entered the restaurant. It was a Popper Burger. Who knows what that is? We asked. I think perhaps our waitress was having a bad day. Service was very unfriendly. The wait for food wasn’t terrible, maybe 30 minutes. 4 of us ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dinner, only comes with fries, hash browns, or mashed potatoes. No veg, I thought that was strange considering the meal was $11 or $12. All of the steaks were very red. I love a good Chicken Fried Steak (always trying to find a good one, NEVER had one that was still red). Sent mine back to be cooked longer. It came back looking the same ud83dude1e. The other half of the table ordered pancakes and bacon and eggs and sausages and enjoyed their meals. I have to give the restaurant a 2 star rating due to how impolite the waitress was. If you are looking for a good Chicken Fried Steak, keep looking... you won’t find it here. Breakfast was good tho. We had waters to drink, too hot out for soda! Our bill was around $70 (before tip). We left thinking that we won’t be in a hurry to come back.

Great place to eat. The soup was so good. Tastes like mom's homemade soup. Burger and chicken fried steak were excellent.

Food is consistently very good. It's nice to be able to sit down and eat. Good service. Especially good onion rings. I've enjoyed this restaurant since 1972.
