Homestead Timbers

Has a nice room full of rustic furniture and home goods, good for gift shopping. I went for reclaimed lumber and was pleased at the selection. Also many wooden slabs for tables and the like. I will go back.

I have tried to get Homestead Timbers to do a couple things for me. I wanted to order Cedar siding for my house I was told by Tammy that they had it I but I couldn’t pay over the phone so I drove all the way over to Marne to pay for it and I was told Tammi was in a meeting and they can’t interrupt so I can’t take my payment and they’re telling me they don’t have the cedar siding that I’ve ordered!So I go to Order it elsewhere.nWhile there, I needed a piece of rough timber for a project that I was doing so I went in their clearance area and bought a board. I only wanted half the board so I asked if they could cut it but they couldn’t cut it that day so I would have to come back. I waited four days, I never got a call so I called them back and yes it was cut but it took 15 minutes for them to find out.nI figure it’s just a glitch so I called and asked if they could make me Cedar Shelves. Again, I was told by Tammy they could and she would call me with an estimate. That was last week. She didn’t call so I called back on Monday and was told she was with a client I asked if they could please ask her if she’d come up with the estimate they came back and said she said she will call you in an hour that was noon she never called the rest of the day. I called Tuesday morning And was told she is with a client. They asked if I could leave a message and she would call me back I said no because she’s not calling me back I’m having a problem with that and instead of correcting the situation and asking me if they could help me they proceeded to tell me there’s nothing better they can do because apparently Tammi is the only person who can take an order over the phone or in person according to Michael, the receptionist and Paul (not sure if his name) If that’s the case maybe they need to hire some people.nBottom line my recommendation is don’t go there to buy anything because they’re over staffed with people who have no clue how to order anything and under staffed with people who do but wont follow through on commitments. We needed wooden siding for our house and they had what we needed in stock when all the other big chain stores didn't have it or it was a month's wait. The service was great. They answered all of our questions and guided us to completing our project.

This place is fabulous. Great customer service and a wonderful selection of products. The prices were good too!

Great people to work with from plans to design to building. Showroom on site. Located just off of I 96. I will add another review after we build.
