McLaren Northern Michigan

I have called several times to speak to a nurse regarding my mom who has stage 4 cancer and was admitted for emergency surgery. From the receptionist answering the call, to the nurses desk and her nurse they were all rude and dismissive. The next day I went and visited her and her nurse was no where to be be found. We asked for ice chips several times and nothing. I asked the nurse again and he was short with me. The evening before she had a nurse that was very rude to her and she even heard her complaining to a fellow nurse out in the hall way about her. My mom is hard of hearing so she must have been pretty loud and maybe even said it purposefully for her to hear. The volunteer in the lobby was very nice, no one else has been. This is not a patient centric hospital and their nurses do not provide compassionate care. I wish I could move her to another hospital. She, or the family, should not be going through this right now. Unbelievable.

I was treated at the emergency room for mild stroke and kept overnight. The staff were very professional and quickly saw to my needs.nnThank you very much!

I came in with neck and rib injuries in the ER last Saturday and I must say I was very impressed at how quickly the McLaren team helped me out. Not only was there a minimal wait in the ER but they got me treated and admitted right away. They subdued the extreme pain I was in fast, got my X-Rays, CAT Scans, and MRI done all in that same day. Placed me in a room for a couple days to recover and the staff was very tentative to all my needs. I must give McLaren at shout out for all the help along with my favorite nurses in the CVU (Laurie RN - Big help with my pain management plan and knowing your stuff! / Danielle RN - Always so tentative and made my experience great along with all the laughs!) I tried to schedule an appointment for an Ecco which I have a referral by my Dr down state and they have been giving me the run around for 12 days. One receptionist said she would call back and never did. I even went in and spoke to the supervisor for that department and he even promised to take care of it and it's been four days and still nothing. This is inexcusable for a hospital such as McLaren.

I went in to the emergency room Tuesday night with sinus symptoms and a total loss of taste and smell. They took me back to a room did a covid quick test and it was negative so they released me no doctor even looked at me at all he came back and said it's probably just a bad sinus infection and left without even looking at me whatsoever. Worst emergency room visit of all time. Still so sick I can't function and was told to continue over the counter sinus medicine.
