Very clean, nicely decorated room with super comfortable bed! Hostess was helpful and friendly. Restaurant closed at this time. Breakfast was on tray at our door in the morning, nice selection of pastry (warm muffins), yogurt, home made granola, fruit juice, fresh fruit cup, and the best coffee we had in Maine!

The Pentagoet Inn is a place unlike most others. But I mean that in a good way. I would try to describe the ambiance, but I probably wouldn't do it any justice. The wait staff is incredible, and the sommelier is incredibly informed and engaging. This is one of the hidden gem restaurants of Maine. Go see for yourself.

We had a wonderful time vacationing here in Castine, Maine. The Pentagoet Inn & Restaurant is just minutes walking distance to the waterfront and for that matter walking around the entire town. Breath taking views. The owners were quite charming in themselves, the staff was cheerful, friendly and helpful. In such a charming old Victorian residence one can expect the rooms to have antique dating issues but overlooking this you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. The breakfast is very good. Their restaurant menu exceptional. We ate there twice. One night I had 2 Urquell Pilsners, 2 Allgash Whites (I was thirsty!) while Doris had a glass of Macrostie Chardonay to compliment our orders of Grilled Oysters, a Tomato Salad and 2 Pan Roasted Cod Dinners. For desert we split a Blueberry Rubarb Crisp. Our bill was $ 140 before tip. We returned the following night (no drinks) for appetizers we had an order of Grilled Oysters, a Bowl of Steamed Mussels followed by our main course of Grilled Diver Scallops and Lobster with Linquine. Our bill was $ 92 before tip. Again the food was excellent and well worth the final tab.

We spent an enchanting vacation in August 2016 at the Pentagoet Inn. Its location is perfect with easy access to the water, the little town, the Academy. . . simply charming. Room was lovely, comfortable, pretty and only ingredient missing was AC, and that only rarely, as the location and the fans made it extremely comfortable. The Barron's Bar is charming, as is its host, the innkeeper. The Dining Room provided delicious breakfasts and dinners were wonderful. Must remember to make dinner reservation as it is the best dining in town. There was common space to enjoy and our hosts provided information so that we traveled around the island and truly enjoyed all there was on the nearby islands. A hideaway to return to.

This was the first bed and breakfast I've ever visited and I'm never going back to normal hotels if they are all like this. Our room was absolutely darling and made for the best wedding morning photos. The included breakfast was delicious and afternoon tea and coffee always hit the spot. I cannot say enough good things. If you can stay here, do.
