I had the best experience delivering my baby here! Great caring nurses!

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Monroe County Hospital surgey department. I was an outpatient their for EGD. I arrived there at 7:30 A.M, back home by 10:A.M.nEveryone from the registration clerk, the nurses and Dr. Payne was very professional and gave excellent care. I recommend staying at home for quality health care. My choice, your choice.

For a SMALL RURAL community hospital they provide a wide range of services including Emergency care, general surgery as well as an obstetric suite where babies step into the world (MOST small rural hospitals have stopped delivering babies due to astronomical liability insurance costs).nI am NOT an employee of the hospital.nnI've been in critical condition twice in the last 18 months. I went to the ER there and was given EXCELLENT PROFESSIONAL CARE. I didn't have to WAIT. After one as stabilized I was sent to Mobile by ambulance.nALL hospitals have problems doesn't matter WHERE or how LARGE or SMALL.nI would recommend MCH to family & friends.

I was in a really bad car accident on March 1, 2019. I was brought to this hospital via ambulance. I was scared but very clear of what pain I had and what was going on at the moment. I explained I had a slight pain in my right calf muscle when pressure was applied. Somehow the medic translated this to a possible broken leg. I received xrays and was later cleared of any broken bones. While I was waiting hours to get X-rays, both of my mothers called the hospital looking for me. The hospital couldn’t even recognize my name to tell them I was there. Also, during the X-rays the nurses were discussing some annoyance they had with other nurses that were working in the ER. Something about if they didn’t make sure to get all the X-rays right so and so would lose it. How about you get them right because it’s your job. On top of that, there was not a concussion test. However, they made sure to prescribe me opioids. The real problem came in to play after this. Once I was cleared of broken bones, a nurse came in to try to release me. However, this is a workman’s comp issue. So past the blood drug test they did, I also had to get up and go to a different wing to have the drug test administered. Keep in mind, my entire driver’s side of my vehicle was crushed and they made me walk to get a urine drug test. But wait, when I asked if I could leave my stuff with my friend and boss so I didn’t have to carry it... a “lovely” woman with short fire hair told me no, that I had to leave the room. Fine, I’ll leave the room. I left my stuff in the lobby with my friend and boss so I could walk to get the drug test. I met, to be quite direct, an incredibly shrewd woman that got mad at me because I didn’t have my ID on me for the test. Her tone was incredibly disrespectful and snarky. I told her I had never had to do this and she then spoke to me as though I was a child. To which I responded with an apology that the 18 wheeler must have caused me to lose understanding of what she deems basic knowledge. When I returned with my ID she then asked me for a number for work, to which I gave my work number. When I said it was my work number she again became irritated and annoyed, which was clear in her tone. I didn’t get her name and I honestly don’t care to try to remember it. I doubt there are too many women with attitudes like hers that work in that area. Then oh joy!!! Trying to get the records to submit for Workman’s comp. The lady that assisted me was very sweet and did everything she could to help me, but the process is outdated. Who has a fax machine? Sending via email is not allowed. So that was fun. Even more fun came when the hospital LIED and said workman’s comp denied it. THEY DIDN’T EVEN SUBMIT IT!!!! They claimed theyncalled my boss and that she works for workman’s comp, denying the claim. ALL FALSE!!! My boss was actually the one that explained to them it was workman’s comp so my insurance didn’t get billed. Well they billed my insurance anyway. I could add so much more to this, but these are the highlights. I would rather chew glass and suffer than ever return to this abysmal excuse for a hospital. That was the absolute scariest moment of my life and this hospital made it worse. I waited months to say anything to see if my feelings changed. They haven’t. Avoid this hospital at all costs!
