Been here 2 hours in the waiting room. Ask how much longer the wait was. Was told the beds are full and need to wait until someone discharged.. only seen 1 person discharged in 2 hours..nCheck in ladies do nothing but gossip and one was even on her cell phone.nI'd like to get paid doing nothing. Where do I sign up?nMy daughter is in such severe pain. Thinking we should go home, call ambulance and be able to get in somewhere that way. Do not go here!! If she was having a heart attack we'd still have to wait for an available bed!nI was just informed by my daughter that she was never asked any covid questions upon signing in. UNREAL!
DO NOT go to Baylor Scott & White for an emergency. I went to Baylor Scott & White for an emergency one year ago and stayed one night.nnThey billed my insurance (in-network) over $11k and billed me over $2k. I paid when I left the hospital when I was there. They told me they would send me the rest of the bill in the mail. I got a bill a couple of months later, which I paid. Then, almost a year later I got another bill and when I asked why they said they had found an error and I still owed money, so I paid. I asked if it was the last bill since it had been almost a year and I was told there was nothing else on my account. Then this week, I got ANOTHER bill for the same visit from a year ago.nnBaylor Scott & White is very OVERPRICED even with insurance that is supposedly in-network. Choose a different emergency hospital.
There are a lot of really bad reviews about billing, which kind of shocks me. Not because the fees aren’t astronomical - they are - but because all ER’s are this way! Unfortunately, this is how the American Healthcare system works. It’s terrible, unfair and full of politics, but this is pretty standard at any hospital you go to. Which is why I think when you’re reviewing a place the idea is to address the actual variables. At an emergency this means wait time, staff professionalism, and quality of care.nnWe brought my grandfather in with a high fever and severe mental disorientation, which eventually was determined to be the early stages of sepsis from a UTI. Here’s why the care exceeded my expectations, and some areas of fallibility : This is a small facility with a small staff. It isn’t a tier one trauma unit and this shows in good and bad ways.nnThe good:n- The facility looks almost brand new and it is very clean.n- Every staff member I’ve encountered has been incredibly kind. Major shout out to the RN (Norma), and our PCA ( Lakyiah). They have been exceptionally compassionate, informative, and funny - which is a rarity it seems in many nurses these days.n- While the doctor “visit” was through telemedicine their technology was impressive and his (Dr. Mallot’s) level of care was un-compromised. He was quick and aggressive in diagnosing and treatment, and that made a substantial differencennThe bad:n- small facility = small staff = few beds. Our timing ended up being spot on and we only had to wait about half an hour (compared to the 6 hours estimated at Plano medical), but I recognize this is likely a rarity. They do have very limited beds so this easily could have increased rapidly.n- Light staff meant we needed to have a family member as a sitter 24/7 - not the most ideal, but requested with ultimate care in mind, and they were very accommodating to our need to cycle in and out.
If I could give a star below 1, I would.nnI arrived here this morning due to extreme pain on my side (turned out to be kidney stone) and decided to drive there instead of taking an ambulance because it was so close. Upon arrival, I was clearly in tremendous amount of pain and it was well conveyed to the staff of my situation. There were no other patients in the waiting room and I don’t think there were other patients in the back rooms either.nnAfter filling out my paperwork, I waited another 20-25 mins and still no one came to get me. I was in so much pain, I couldn’t sit on a chair and, instead, was walking/pacing around furiously.nnWhen asked what’s taking so long, I was told they were preparing the room. There was literally no sense of urgency for an Emergency Room. I ended up leaving and going to another near by emergency department, in which they took me in right away.nnSo disappointed with this place. You would think an emergency room would move a lot quicker considering it’s an “emergency” room. The staff and team there seemed like they had better things to do than address my emergency.nnNot going back there ever again in case of an emergency.
My husband is alive today due to the quickness and knowledge of the staff. My husband had a massive blood clot to his heart and lungs. They quickly revived him and strayed the necessary medication to reduced heart rate and breakup the blood clot as there were no ICU hospital available. They gave him the medicine and a nurse stayed with him the entire time checking him every ten minutes. This emergency hospital is not equipped for this type of issue yet they saved him. Needless to say all staff including front desk were helpful and efficient. Due to the medicines provided by emergency my husband did not need additional surgery to remove blood clot as it disappeared which baffled the doctors at the ICU. Thank you emergency Baylor Murphy
