Barbecue brisket sandwich and cheese grits were both excellent. The brisket sandwich was flavorful with a smoky flavor and also tender and moist. It was on a very fresh bun that really made it an excellent sandwich. The addition of the onions that were lightly grilled and the pickle was welcome. The cheese grits had A little salt and perhaps some garlic flavor. They were some of the best grits I’ve had in a long time. Sweet tea was good although I think the glasses should’ve been larger. I look forward to a return visit
First time eating here. Food was amazing. Great customer service. Got the chicken and biscuits and my husband got the brisket everything was good and hot. I will recommend this place to our family and friends.
Very disappointed in our meal last night. I got the chicken on a biscuit, majority of chicken was not edible it was hard, the chicken was dried out to the point it was not edible. They were out of Coke and Dr. Pepper, we ordered Sprite when we received the drinks it was pure seltzer. We tried to get the waitresses attention for 15 minutes to no avail. Finally after getting up to find someone we got Lemonade. This restaurant used to be amazing, I do not know what happened, maybe new management. I do not recommend going here until they get their act together. Very disappointed.
The family had just arrived to St Louis and we were hungry after 2 hours in the air. I've heard a lot about St Louis BBQ so as a good Texan, I said to myself, self...BBQ let's see if they got game. I noticed most places closed at 8/9 pm. I don't know if its The Rona or normal so heads up. Due to time, we selected this establishment. It's located next to a huge casino on the river. You'll notice that parking is hard to find in front of the place. It's a historical looking place next to regular homes. We walked in and you can smell smoke flavor. The establishment's aesthetics are a mixture of Soul and Animal Body part. The customer service was A+ since we entered. The building has different tiers in their seating area and the bathrooms are located at the entrance next to the bar (Note: no baby changing station in the men's room). Our server continued the positive hospitality. We ordered our traditional pork ribs, brisket and the sides (sweet potato casserole and green beans). The service was quick as the food arrived in the blink of an eye. The flavor was original coming from eating tons of Texas BBQ. The smoked taste was found in each bite in the brisket. They had 3 table sauces and they all were good I suggest the ST. The casserole was sweet and full of pecans. The green beans had a great combination of meat, bacon and smoke taste in them. The ribs a bit lacking in meat yet real good. Finally, we were offered peKAN pie and a fat guy can't reject that. It was homemade style and warmed up. The cost was $49 plus tip and it was a great eating experience. I recommend it as a place that is tasty and family friendly.
Hendricks used to be my favorite BBQ spot. I’m not sure if they are under new management, but my friend and I went last week and the experience was unlike any other before. I am truly sad about this since the service and food used to be excellent in every way. We waited to be seated and no one ever came. We seated ourselves and after 15 minutes and making eye contact with every employee we were asked if we were ready to order. We had no menu or drinks and had not even been acknowledged until then. All of the meat I ordered had already been sauced which is different than before. Sides were wrong and the green beans had clearly been microwaved and shriveled. We decided that would be our last time. If people are going to patronize your business during a pandemic, please treat them better than this. I will take my money to other local restaurants who care about their customers.
