The River Shack

Feet in sand, drink in your hand...with Live music and crabs...can't get much better! Had a 30 min wait time on a Sunday around 2:30PM but they call you on your phone when table is ready. We took a nice walk down to the piers across the street. Very beautiful surroundings.

After reading so many great reviews about the blue crabs, I planned a trip to The River Shack this week. I drove from Alexandria, Virginia to Charlestown, MD and arrived yesterday afternoon. I had dinner at their sister restaurant, The Wellwood, and it was awesome! Before I left for the evening, I inquired with staff about tomorrow's opening time for The River Shack, so that I could order crabs as early as possible to take back home. Well, I arrived today and was told by staff that they are not selling large blue crabs to-go, only the small to medium sized. I'm heartbroken ud83dude29ud83dude29 I didn't drive all the way up there for mediums ud83dude29. Aside from that, I'll be back at The Wellwood soon. Great food and awesome service!

They are amazing! They are really doing a great job making their customers feel safe. The food is amazing and so are the drinks. Great staff!!! Love this place.

what a pleasant surprise. The crabs were great, fat and meaty. the hush puppies were hot and delicious, crunchy and dense. The driver is were good. they socially distanced well. I'll be going g back

I am 68 yrs old. I have been going there for about 10 yrs. The food is excellent and the waiters are terrific. I've always had a great time there with my friends.
