My pregnant 19yo daughter and I were traveling through Baton Rouge. After dinner, she noticed some blood spotting. We called the hospital, and they told us to come in right away. They got us registered and into the Birth Center very raoidly, and took very good care of her for about 2 hours. Everything turned out fine, but in addition I was impressed by the skill and professionalism of the staff, from top to bottom, and the personal touch.

Clean, friendly and reasonably priced.nOne thing I do know it that after they say how much and you pay it. The dont start sending more invoices after 2 months like some or the other Hospitals.

This past Sunday my 91 year old mother with advanced Alzheimer’s was transported from her nursing facility to the Bluebonnet ER. I actually got there before her. I checked in at the door and was told to wait in my car and to call the ER phone number in 15 minutes. I told the nurse of my mother’s dementia, her inability to relay information or make decisions for herself, and that I had her power of attorney and needed to be in the room with her. Still—go to my car. I made several calls to the number I had been given and relayed to Beth, who answered the phone, that my mother had advanced dementia and could not make decisions for herself. After almost 2 hours, I went back to the entrance door and begged that nurse to help me. He got me admitted. My mother was in the room by herself, and when a doctor came in, I discovered they had already run all the tests they felt needed to be run. She had wires connected all over the place (which I had to prevent her from pulling out) and two IVs with tape squeezing her fragile skin. I would like to add that not only had I repeatedly told the person answering my calls that I was my mother’s Power of Attorney, but when I looked at the stack of paperwork sent with her in the ambulance from her nursing facility, there on the very top was a note written in bold sharpie indicating my mother’s advanced dementia, giving my name and cell number, clearly indicating that I was her POA, and that she was unable to make decisions on her own. In fact, when the doctor, in my presence, asked my mother her name, she was unable to tell him.nnMy mother is back in her nursing facility and she is better, for which I am grateful, but it is her right under HIPPA to have a representative if she is unable to represent herself. It is unacceptable that I was not immediately allowed to be in the room with her after repeatedly explaining the situation and my position as her representative to the ER staff person.

My niece was hospitalized at the General on Bluebonnet for a few weeks. In this time, my niece was treated like she was a non person. The nurses were by all reports exemplary. No complaints. The doctors were pitiful. I mean they were beyond arrogant. The nurses came in to hang blood, ultra sound came to her room to do an ultrasound, she was taken to MRI with no explanation or test results offered. This has been frustration for everyone trying to help her. The nurses appropriately did not give her information.. this should have come from the DOCTORS.. my sister approached one of her ridiculous doctors who THEN started giving a kindergarten explanation about one of her labs. Her proxy was given the run around and has not, to this time. been treated appropriately. She was denied test results, lab reports, condition reports, etc.. never once getting a return call from these so called MD’s who are too important to actually do their jobs!! Wow, what a great joint, huh??

Wonderful nurses, staff and Housekeeping! The room was extremely spacious and clean. The nurses were attentive and informative in caring fir my wife who had knee replacement surgery. Our Social Service advisor Sarah was kind enough to insure that my wife had the proper walker and equipment that my wife would need to recover. The physical therapy staff had her walking the very next day! This painful surgery turned out to be a healing process thanks to the staff of this hospital!
