Island Gypsy Cafe & Marina Bar

We were told a one hour wait. We had a large party (10). That said, they should be transparent. We waited 2 hours and 30 minutes, with no end in sight. Restaurants should be transparent. Food is not worth a 30 minute wait. It’s average bar food at best. Stay away.

Love the Island Gypsy! Everything from the atmosphere (very chill) to the staff (quick and friendly) to the food. This is probably our new favorite seafood restaurant in Naples!nnI'd have to say it was the best grouper sandwich I've ever had. My wife very wisely ordered the lobster and shrimp mac & cheese - I was lucky enough to get a bite or 2 of it - WOW!nnGreat place, added to our permanent rotation of restaurants.

Awesome menu and a great location, the catch of the day was Red Snapper and it was fresh and deliciously prepared. They also give you the option to choose how it is cooked, so we chose blackened this time. Just be prepared to wait for a table. (Luckily they serve up great drinks at the bar to help you kill some time.)

Friday night was really busy but the food was worth the wait. Clam chowder was excellent. Lobster Reuben sandwich was a great choice. Nice view from the bar too.

I can see how this place is a gem. Good food, laid back, efficient wait staff, and a great location but, I don’t believe the hostess staff handled our large party correctly. We are a big family with 7 kids and were there to celebrate my moms birthday so, party of 11. We arrived at 11:30am and did not leave until 2:25pm and the majority of this time was waiting not eating. Apparently the party that was sitting at the table where we were to be seated ordered another round of drinks after their meal. From my past experience as a hostess and server, to avoid losing the business, I would have kindly explained to the party that there was another large party waiting and encouraged them to order drinks at the bar. I was leaving when the hostess asked us to wait 15 more minutes while the accommodated us at a different table. From the beginning I even told the hostess we were willing to sit separately in the same section. This could have been a really positive experience that turned into frustration and annoyance. I think the almost 2 hour wait time was avoidable.
