Dr Jared was very thorough in diagnosing my son as well as explaining everything down to the very last details. He answered all my questions and was extremely good when handling my four month old...I would recommend this establishment over and over again the service was speedy as far as emergency rooms go and overall the experience was great! I felt my son was in the best of hands and even though he wasn’t feeling well they still managed to make him smile!

I took my 3 year old to the ER on Friday. He had a fractured jaw and needed to be seen by a dentist to have it set and braced. The ER doctor told me their policy was to have me contact his dentist to do this. I explained that he just turned 3 and hasn't been to a dentist yet. Told me to call my dentist. I said that it's after 5 and his office was closed. He told me to call his emergency number. So I'm trying to comfort my poor little guy while calling around for a dentist to see him to set his jaw bone. My dentist was at a funeral and asked why my son couldn't be taken care of at Children's. The ER doctor kept referring to the policy that he be seen by his dentist (who doesn't exist). Finally I got a hold of another dentist that said she could open up her office and gather a team together to treat my son but it would take a while because it is a Friday evening. She also wondered why I couldn't be seen at Children's because she knows that there are residents on call there. I wondered the same thing and I had her speak to the ER doctor about he policy. She convinced him that it would be in thy boy's best interests to not drive all the way out to her clinic when there are dentists on location at Children's where we are. He finally agreed to Have the dentist from Children's see my son....3 hours later!!!!?! In the mean time, not a single nurse came by to check him, no pain medication or even ice was offered, I found my own gauze for his bleeding mouth. They are supposed to be a magnet hospital!! I am a nurse and have worked at magnet hospitals. I can say that the nurses in the ER at Children's were not up to the caliber that is expected at a magnet hospital. I will not be going back to the Children's ER. There are plenty of others in the area to choose from. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has a good reputation for its specialty care, however the ER at Chidren's is NOT a good place to take your child for emergency care.

When we had to take our 2 year old here the staff was very attentive, fast, and caring. We had no wait and saw a doctor right away. All together we were there an hour. The doctor was very kind and reassuring. The next morning they promptly called in the nicest after care er call I've ever had. They are definitely ranked best in the area for a reason.

I will never come to this emergency. I will be sure to just make appointments with my primary care physician. My baby was sent home after being told she didn’t have the flu and that she was completely fine. My baby throwing up is not completely fine. Returning two days later to have a different doctor access my child, she had the flu. The rooms are dirty. The wait time is ridiculous to be put in a room, to be seen, and then to be discharged. Never again. Worst experience every time I come here.

I went to the E.R. yesterday because my son broke his wrist while we were on vacation out of town. He needed to be put in a cast as soon as possible. Other casting outfits were booked and so I called the E.R. prior to coming to see if they cast. The person on the phone replied they did in fact cast. I came all the way to Children's from West Bend. Upon arriving the person who checked my son in also told me they would be able to put a cast on him and took him back. Upon the nurse practitioner coming into the room as soon as I told her the situation she told me they do not cast and the reason the hospital out of town put on a temporary cast was for swelling. Of course, I was frustrated upon calling before coming and TWO people telling me they do cast. I left and called numerous of orthopedic doctors with Aurora (where we normally go) and they rushed to find an open orthopedic doctor for him to get a cast. Needless to say he had a cast put on right away, it wasn't too swollen, and I will never take my child to unprofessional Children's Emergency again. If I could give no stars I would!
