I know with covid the hospital may be overwhelmed. However i have been here before the pandemic, and experienced a unusually long wait time. During my two visits I have observed more than five people coming in sick and leaving sick, never being seen by the staff. Last time I went in, I waited 9 hours to be seen. This is unacceptable. The hospital is here to help heal people, but by the looks of it, it is clearly not doing its job deeming itself useless. What a joke ! FYI: The nurses here are way more educated than the doctors are, without them, this place would be nothing.

I went to Bayhealth ER twice this week for bad abdominal pain that ended up being kidney stones (ugh). My first ER visit was awful. There didn’t appear to be any other patients waiting (it was 4am), but it still took nearly an hour for me to get any pain relief medication. When the doctor (don’t know his name) came in to see me, he stood in the doorway and was very stand-offish. His instructions were unclear and he sent me on my way after very strong pain meds.nnI didn’t want to return a second time, but I am so glad I did. I had a MUCH better experience tonight. The RN David was very nice and attentive and Dr. Hawley was awesome! She made sure I was feeling OK, understood what I needed to do next, and answered all of my questions. It really makes a difference who is working! The facility itself was clean and nice.

I wanted to say the wait time was extensive because of Covid-19, but long before covid the wait time was still 6 hours or more. This hospital is not equipped to handle more than 10-15 patients at a time from my observations. If you can, I would recommend going to a facility with an adequate ER.

Went in with my infant daughter. We were triaged immediately but left in waiting room over an hour when we overheard another patient comment they had been there over 9 hours. When I spoke to the front desk they couldn't give a wait time but acknowledged there were patients who had been waiting that long. Wish they would have said that when we arrived and sent us somewhere else. An ER room full of coughing/sick individuals is not safe for an infant!!! We left untreated.

Meanwhile two elderly ladies one was there at 5:00 pm they pushed her to the wall covered her with blankets I decided to leave she was still at the wall several people had spoke up for her poor lady was in tears for help , the other woman came in after me and was still waiting for a ex-ray her family took her out the receptionist shrugged her shoulders told her I don’t know when they are going to wait on you . One star for the thin cover they gave us still froze us
