Thrifty Car & Truck Rental Ballina

Worst customer experience ever at Ballina airport thrifty. When we were asked to sign the forms to ensure there was no damage on the hire car we asked to check the car first. The old grump at the desk responded “nope, it’s too dark out there to see if there is any damage anyway”nWe then questioned why we were being charged $500 excess even though we were originally told as a blue chip member we wouldn’t have to pay the excess. The attendant responded. “Nope, you’re wrong.” I opened up my email to check the confirmation and found it actually stated that it was a $200 excess. I then questioned this again and the attendant responded “yep, that’s only on credit card. You used a debit card”nWhy!! Would you not explain this to us first.nSo unhelpful and we only wished there was another hire place open so we did not have to give our money to this company. That attendant should NOT be working in customer service.

Just spoke to Jes from their Call Centre... useless.nDid not get back my full refund for the deposit and the call centre don't know why, he can't get through to the Ballina office apparently either.nAfter I asked to call them again, instead of helping me Jes put me on hold and then hung up.nI do not recommend dealing w these guys. Rip off, useless staff

Rental car and customer service both excellent. Would ride again.

This was my first rental car experience and thankfully, a positive one. I booked a Toyota Corolla but ended up getting a Subaru XV. Whilst this was a significantly larger vehicle, I’m glad I got to drive that in the week I was in Byron/ Ballina as it was pouring down that entire weekend. I took many pictures of my vehicle prior to leaving the airport and pictures of the same thing before I dropped it off just to make sure everything was all good but no dramas at all in this case. My deposit was deposited back into my credit card within 2 days. Will definitely continue doing business with Thrifty again.

What they can offer is poor and terrible customer service. Once for life of this kind of experience is enough and I will never book another rental car from them again...
