Cardiff Rent-A-Car

I just rented a Ute from Cardiff Rent a Car while I moved house and wow. I hate reviewing things but it just wouldn’t be right to not give these guys at least a solid 11/10. The team were beyond helpful and such a delight. I could honestly go on and on about how good they were but I’ll sum it up with this: usually after renting a car you are stuck arguing over extra costs, at Cardiff Rent a Car I honestly wanted to give them more.nnOh, the Ute ran great and the price was so reasonable. But trust me you’ll go back for the service.

Initial supply of a quote and making of arrangements was good. However when we arrived to pick up the arranged car we were advised that we had been shifted into a different, smaller car. This was unacceptable as I’m a bigger guy and needed the larger car. We delayed our departure time for our trip so that we could ensure we had sufficient time to return the car so to then have to make another arrangement was very annoying. With not being advised earlier of the change and with no apology for how we were treated we will definitely not be using them again. Very poor customer service!

When I picked up truck I was told to bring it back with 2 bars down on the fuel gauge. Luckily I pulled over and took a photo of the odometer and fuel gauge because on return I was told I wouldn't be getting my refund, even though I had filled it as instructed. I had rung through the day before to let them know the gauge seemed faulty. (Was reading half full after filling and driving less than 100km) I hate being treated like I am being deceitful and a lier instead of being treated with some respect and given an opportunity to prove myself. S*!t customer service.

Had paint & seat protection done, fantastic job, our 3rd vehicle done here, won't go anywhere else! Staff are a credit to this business! Thanks to all!

I generally leave super-positive reviews, but life is balance, and when a service is not provided professionally, the same effort should be used to point out what’s missing in that service. We hired a Pantech van from this company and our trip was a total nightmare: the automatic gearbox, most of the time, instead of switching to a lower gear when approaching to a slightly uphill road (2% max), switched to a higher gear, causing the engine to work to a lower rpm and consequently forcing the car to run to an excessively low speed .We succesfully managed to maintain an average speed of 100 Km/h on flat surfaces, but again, just a slight rise made the speed drop down to no more than 80 Km/h. All this costed us a fortune in diesel, particularly given that we expressily asked for a manual type van – and on the booking confirmation email, that detail was written as well. We tried to email and phone the company for a whole week afterwards, asking to talk to the owner, and what we got were just typical answers like “he is busy at the moment, but will contact you soon”. On my books, this attitude is called the strategy of “let the client wear down by exhaustion”, but that’s definitely not our approach to problems. They just gave us back our bond, and that to us is worse than laughing to our face. Of course now we will receive an “answer” to this review with some kind of excuse – not a solution indeed - but this will further confirm that time can be found if someone wants to. We are happy to remove this review if the company is focused at improving its service, by providing us an explanation and a part-refund in petrol we fully deserve after this week of frustation and wasted time, that surely have no price.
