Thrifty Car & Truck Rental Toowoomba

The WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A CAR HIRE COMPANY IN MY LIFE!!!!!nSAVE yourself what happened to me and my family. Go to anywhere on earth but to Thrifty. The staff not only made extremely rude comments to themselves in earshot but they closed the shop as I was arriving to collect my vehicle which had been booked for quite some time for a 12 seat mini van to leave Toowoomba at 6.30am the next morning. I was told to arrive at 5pm to give them time to clean the van that was being returned at 3.30 pm that day. I arrived an hour earlier as I wanted to get it all sorted and van collected so we were ready for our early morning event the very next day. The two rude females spoke down to me at the very first sentence....they then told me the quote I had and CONFIRMED booking rate was wrong and I needed to pay them $950 instead for the $750 clearly stated on my booking. I then called desperately to find the remaining money they insisted on. I was desperate because time was getting on and they still wouldn't just allow me to pick up the van which was parked and ready to go. They told me I could not wait inside the office while I called head Office in Brisbane. They got their Handbags. Locked up and left.... with me standing in disbelief while my 3 children watched on from being very excited picking up the Van to me telling them that we didn't get the van. When my children asked why, I didn't have the answer. It was 4.35pm when I left the premises, almost half an hour early for the time of pick up which was booked for 5pm. No matter what I said or did they made it impossible for me to hire the Van. I spent the next 6 hours trying to book transportation for 12 people to leave at 6.30am the next morning....PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF this type of horrible treatment. They are beyond rude and are deliberately and publicly inappropriate in the language they use and how they treat people. I'm still in shock at what happened, I really am. They suck.

Great experience with 3 day van hire. Staff very friendly & helpful. Vehicle drove extremely well and economical. Recommend to everyone.

Janine was very helpful and professional. I had no issues with the rental or return, and I received a day's refund when I returned the car a day earlier than planned. The only downside was the fact that I needed the car at 5am on Monday, and had to pick it before 11am on Saturday as Thrifty is not open between those times. I had to pay extra for that extra day, but I knew that beforehand.
