Europcar Sydney Darling Harbour

I showed up in Darlinghurst to pick up a car that I reserved online but unfortunately they didn’t have any cars so I was sent to the Darling Harbour office to get another car, but upon arriving there, no one was working and the office was closed. I guess no one showed up for the day. Other customers were waiting for someone to show up and we’re on the phone with customer service, who was apparently trying to send them to the Darlinghurst location, the place I just came from that didn’t have any cars. Not sure what was going on. After 20 minutes on the phone with the customer service, they managed to find an available car in Artarmon. We caught a bus up there and eventually got a car, after 3 hours of running around.

Called up today early to book a car and they said it was available so drove to the location to finalise the rental. Got there waited 30 mins and no staff showed up. They had a sign saying be back in 10 mins but clearly the lazy staff had just clocked off early. Very disappointed...

Waited 40 minutes for 2 customers in front of me to be served. Very ineffective process, too much talking, only one customer can be served at a time. Booked child seat wasn't in the car, so another 5 minutes wasted waiting for it to be fitted. Made me very late for where I was going.

If I could give this company a zero rating I would. Poor customer service to the extreme. I was lucky if they could understand English.

Just dont rent from Europcar. Staff not knowledgeable, no one to help with car pick up, nothing what you expect from customer service. Go Enterprise instead Pros: Central location, premium car available Cons: If you want to rent car, you will need 1 credit and 1 debit card in Driver's name. Don't be fooled as they don't tell you this except in fine prints in terms and conditions. So if you are renting on behave of someone, they will still require the driver's credit card. Maybe you can add additional driver but there will be extra cost. There is no one at carpark, and so the staff just give you keys and you will likely get lost in the carpark. Exit lift, find the side facing the harbour/ ocean, go to far left. That's where the cars are parked. When returning, go past Ibis hotel (or the Europcar office, NOT THE HARBOUR SIDE CARPARK beware!!!!), and there is a sign for Europcar into carpark. Stay on left lane, and turn immediate left after the boom gate. Go to the end and you will find Europcar bays to park. Go to the lift, if the light/ harbour is behind to you, go away from harbour, and go far right. You might need to press intercom to open doors to the lift area. I left something in the car, call back staff said they will call back nobody did, went there, staff said don't know or no record of anything, and just ask you to chase around customer service. Organisation not build for customer service, forget about it. Never going to rent from them.
