Without Katz our downtown core would continue to look and feel miserable. The Ice District has brought life back with both pedestrians and vehicles in mind (plenty of open walking spaces and underground parking)! Meanwhile the City of Edmonton continues to revitalize the rest of downtown w/ complete lack of vision or proper planning in comparison.

What a great and vibrant downtown our beautiful Edmonton city core has become ! And the planners, developers, investors, construction workers and many others are still at it ! The centerpiece is, of course, the Ice District. The Jewels in the Crown are, in my opinion : Rogers Place Arena, J.W. Mariott Hotel and Residences Tower and, of course, the 55 storey Stantec Tower : the tallest freestanding structure in Western Canada. There is so much to see and do in the downtown City Core. To mention a few : the Winspear Centre, home of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra ; the Citadel Theater, venue for live theater and often featuring debuts of first run plays ; the Art Gallery of Alberta ; the new Alberta Provincial Museum ; the Edmonton City Hall and, of course, The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, also known as " The Chateau on the Hill. " Enjoy !Tell your family and friends. Spread the Word : There so much to see and do in downtown " YEGtown. " ( And don't forget West Edmonton Mall ! ). - by Jack Knall

Four stars because the district isn’t done and there needs to be some cleanup! Definitely puts Edmonton on the map. The Ice District is reminiscent of the LA Live District. Very well done, although makes for a pricey night. There does need to be more security as the Casino does attract rifraff and homeless. This is the luxury part of the city!
