rob thoroughly showed me his tubes today. i feel well and truly lugged. he deserved top braze. the experience meant the weld to me. hope we can grind again soon.
I came to Quirk Cycles with dream build, based off of late 90’s pursuit bicycles designed to test engineering and performance barriers. Rob worked with me to make the vision a reality. Always giving honest advice, as well as feasible options - always explained to truly create an experience, and in the end a bike you’ve felt you’ve been involved in creating. In the end I’ve felt that I’ve not only come out of the experience with an incredible bike, but also a friendship. Quirk Cycles thank you.
Hands down the best bike I have ever ridden!
I got in touch with Rob as I wanted something quite specific and we were able to discuss and use his vast knowledge to build my dream bike!
Cannot recommend Quirk enough he understands how to build a bike to achieve what you want to get out of the bike.
Having been through the process of buying a custom made bike from Quirk Cycles, I can do nothing but recommend, quick communication, exceptionally built frames and a friendly & thorough service. I’ve been sceptical about steel bikes having ridden lots of carbon bikes, after contacting Rob and discussing the benefits of steel over other materials, I decided to take the plunge and give Rob the go-ahead to build me a steel bike. It was decided for my riding the Quirk All-Road was the way forward, Rob offered to arrange a Bike Fit, but I had one already that Rob worked from. He sent me plans when it was my place in the queue to have the frame built, we discussed the components Rob would supply at very competitive prices. The paint scheme was quickly decided upon, Rob provided helpful advice on specific details such as font to be displayed on the frame.
In summary, it is simply the best bicycle decision I’ve made, I’m a convert, the bike rides so well, it is hard to explain, it has more urgency and a more comfortable and supple feel to other bikes I’ve ridden. If n+1 is a problem in your household then this is the only “n” you’ll need, I’m looking at reducing my stable to just this bike, I don’t look at my other bikes and think I’ll take that one instead, the Quirk is my go to bike every single time, come rain or shine.
I came to Quirk Cycles looking for a bike to perform a range of roles, with an exact spec that I couldn't find elsewhere. I knew Rob has the expertise and experience in both building and riding bikes within the specific niche I'm interested in, namely - all road and adventure, and specifically the Transcontinental Race.
Rob worked with me closely through every step of the process to make sure my requirements were being addressed, often solving problems with unique solutions and including me in the process, which was a fascinating insight into the art of frame building.
The final product is an absolute joy to ride, and to behold. The steel frame is light and you can feel how the design of the frame has been tuned for its purpose, as it comes alive on flowing, off road trails, soaking up and springing out of the undulations. And to prove its versatility, it got me to the finish line of TCR No6 in under 14 days, dealing with every conceivable road surface Eastern Europe had to throw at me, including a Strava KOM on an off road gravel climb.
If you're looking for a unique bike and a fascinating experience, I'd highly recommend a trip to the Quirkshop.
