Charco Del Ingenio

This is a lovely small ecological reserve, with a cacti hothouse and a dam. It’s a nice place to walk early in the morning before the hot sun, as shade is scarce. Bring your hiking shoes and hike down the canyon - but not for the faint at heart 😛 It’s a nice place for birders / photographers as well. There are small islands within the dam waters that serve as refuge to all manner of ducks, egrets, and other lovely feathered friends. Bring your biggest binoculars/telephoto lenses, as these birds 🦅 are at quite a distance (except for the ducks 🦆 ).

I’m sorry but what kind of garbage fire tourist trap is this? A garden of cacti in the land of cacti? Why is this place rated so highly? There is very little variety and nothing else to see here. The name “botanical garden” is grossly misleading. I feel cheated by the positive reviews. And the front desk staff didn’t let me sit in an unoccupied chair to wait for a taxi. How rude!

It is a very beautiful botanical garden with well established trails. I never imagined a landscape of cacti could be so gorgeous. The staff is very helpful and can also direct you to the lake, solarium, or canyon. After our hike we had breakfast at the cafe where they serve delicious chilaquiles, omelettes and refreshments. It was nice escape from the city and to just sit in nature and listen to the birds.

Wonderful park with many interesting paths and plants. Lovely canyon area. Beautiful. Highly recommend.

Fantastic! Beautiful nature, delicious cafe and a great gift shop. My son forgot his mask and we got him a good one there. They have great ice cream. The garambullo cactus grows delicious fruit and they make ice cream with it. The hiking is great. There are labyrinths and a slide. We love Charco. Many many paths to explore.
