Hotel Azul is a top boutique hotel in Oaxaca. From every little detail of the bedrooms to the friendliness of the staff, this is a must stay in the city. They have established robust Health & Safety protocols, which allows them to keep the business going. Our family had a great time here and we can highly recommend not only the hotel but the restaurant with an excellent chef! We want to be back!

Right in the heart of Oaxaca, this hotel is a spin between the colonial and modern decore. The staff was friendly, helpful and always with a smile. You'll be at a walking distance from delicious restaurants and shops. Just be careful that your stay won't coincide with an event, or you'll be hearing the party all night. Other than that, it's a lovely place to stay.

The hotel itself is great, pretty and clean rooms that emanate we vibe of Oaxaca. All suites are different and designed by artists from the state. If money is not a problem be sure to ask and have a look. Some of them are just beautiful. The restaurant is pretty good too. Can get a bit crowded during peak season but can be pretty empty too. Don’t be afraid to enter if you are not staying in the hotel. Food is amazing (a Mexican gourmet cousine) and will not leave you disappointed. Be sure to try the fish tacos.

In my 20 years of traveling and attempting to see as many corners of the world as possible, Azul is one maybe just two or three places I love so much that I would be willing to lose out on a new adventure elsewhere just so I can go back. I was fortunate to spend close to a week at Azul. As you stay a bit longer, you start to notice things that are not evident in pictures and hotel rankings. Of course, the interior design is unique and the location is ideal on a quiet street near the Centro. But as you spend a few more days, you realize the kitchen is of the same caliber as the top restaurants, but without the crowds. This is evidenced by the fact that local residents choose to have their business lunches and special occasion meals there. More than anything, what makes Azul wonderful is the genuine care for all guests by the staff. As an established property, it is clear that much of the team has been working there for a while. This translates into genuine desire to make sure the guests feel at home, something that is not easily found in some of the newer places around the Centro that tend to offer all style and little substance in terms of care for their guests. I am truly looking forward to going back in the years ahead and having the same great experience with all the familiar faces!
