Hotel Txoko Turismo

The rooms and hotel are fine overall. There's no elevator which was fine for us, but can be an inconvenience for others. All rooms had a wall mounted A/C unit, however, it does not really ever get cold, but moreorless acts as a fan. We did find some small critters in our room, but that's likely due to us leaving our window open. 😁

A basic hotel with all you may need. I'm giving 3 starts because where other owners abandon the hotel this is well maintained but the staff? OMG!!! Check-in was fast but we wanted to extend our stay, the guys in the afternoon cannot modify reservations so they were supposed to put a note in the log so the personnel in the morning make our reservation, I mean, really? Next morning the lady in the front desk had no idea what we were talking about, long story short we had to go to another Hotel. Yes, the rooms are tiny, but they are well illuminated and have details obviously aimed to make your stay comfortable like a small table, a chair that can hold you, the closet doors are not falling apart, there's air conditioning, you won't find courtesy coffee but at least the TV is big and the Wi-Fi speed is fairly good. BTW and this is hilarious, the restroom's window goes directly to the hallway so if you're a gentleman doing your business standing up, be polite and say hello to people passing by, LOL The parking lot doors are maintained closed at night which is good but controlled remotely, no security guard, so if you are arriving at, say, 11pm you'll have to get off your car, call them by the intercom and they will let you in. Fortunately the area seems secure so it's not big deal just do not forget to close the pedestrian door behind you. Talking about the area, there are tons of options to eat, from sport bars to taco places, sea food restaurants or Italian, local small inns (fonditas) and Irish pubs and yes, several Tlayuda places, I LOOOOVE THEM! There are three OXXO near which is the main convenience store in Mexico (like seven eleven), also two hospitals, a gas station and a drug store so your covered for any emergency. This is Oaxaca, enjoy!

The room ran out of hot water and room was not so clean. Nice location.

The service is very poor. Very dirty facility looks like a cheap motel. My room was filthy and there was hair on the bed, pillows and stained sheets. Also the shower had hairs even on the walls. The elevator was not working and in general the carpet throughout the hotel reeks of cigarettes. When I complained, they said they were going to check it with the manager whom I asked to see and he never answered me. Horrible place. Its ample parking is useless if everything else is wrong. They have a bar where healthy distance is not respected and it is excessively noisy. For no reason do you stay here ...

The hotel in general is quite good value for money. One of the not so good points is that at night there is no one who can sell you water even if it is. Another not so pleasant point is that they close the hotel at night and you must be playing for more than 5 minutes so that the person in charge of the shift can open the access. The truth is not at all pleasant having to ask for access to a hotel when you are already staying and finally their website really does invest because this last time they did not have the hotel number and looking at their website it never loaded.
