It is just adequate, but it was clean and well run. Rooms were a little dark and one can very easily hear ones neighbour showering, or someone talking outside your door, or kids playing in the pool, so bring earplugs! Nice pool and waterfalls. Excellent maid service!

The new boss or “Jefe” is terrible. Been coming to this hotel since 2006 - sometimes twice a year. I’ve brought lots of friends down who have also become repeat clients...that is until last week. Just got back from a recent stay of 9 days total. Stayed in room 17 with an ocean view. Everything was fine besides noticing a few changes due to new ownership...also didn’t get the best vibe from the new owner upon check-in. We went to check out a few days ago and they told us that one towel is missing. I said that’s funny because 3 or 4 days prior they left us 3 fresh towels, but then the following day they left zero...they took the dirty ones while cleaning but never replaced them. I asked to speak to the manager- told him there is some sort of mix up, but I can assure we never lost a towel. He was quick to blame me...almost seemed excited to just shove it in my face. I told him I’ve been a loyal customer since 2006 and have brought a ton of business to this place over the years so you really think I would lie about 1 little hotel towel???!! They ended up charging me 300 pesos ($16) for the towel. Not a ton of money, but to be punished for something you didn’t do and after so many years of bringing money to The Acuario hotel - that’s what bothers me. What a horrible business model - lose a lifelong client along with all of my friends business as well over an unexplainable missing towel - stupid. I assure you I will be making sure that no one that I know will be staying here anymore thanks to the new Jefe. There are so many hotel options in this area so it will not be difficult. If you stay here keep a close eye on your towel count each and everyday! If one day a cleaning lady doesn’t replace one...you will be blamed! Total scam Just read another similar review- I’m not the only one TOWEL SCAM Scott Jellig - 13 year client...gone

I stayed here for 22 days in February. Note that the hotel is under new management and they are working on many improvements and updates, so some comments from previous years may be outdated/no longer applicable. Pluses = Staff were wonderful...friendly, polite, helpful, always hardworking. Location great...right on center of main strip in town surrounded by many restaurants and shops with an OXXO (corner store) right next door and and ATM (Santandor Bank) just a few minute walk away). Pool was refreshing and clean, hotel was kept spotless with daily room cleaning. I stayed in room 35 (2nd floor poolside) which was good for noise reduction due to it's location a bit away from the street where you will most likely hear music from the nearby bars at night, not so much where I was). The room had a singe and a double bed both of which were comfortable. Had a small fridge, new flatscreen TV, AC and a ceiling fan. Water in the shower was hot (sometimes had to wait a minute or two but it always got very hot). Room was overall basic/simple, but did the trick. No issues with bugs/insects as is often the case in the south. The beach is directly across the street and the hotel has a beachside restaurant with loungers and umbrellas free for hotel guests to use; the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Discount given for extended stays (I believe for more than 2 weeks), ask at check-in. Negatives = Central location also meant some late night noise from the surrounding restaurants/bars depending on your room location (out front = more noise). Wifi not working great from my room (but as indicated above, improvements are being worked on and this is one thing the manager is getting upgraded very soon!). My room had brick walls and so was not very soundproof. Overall, a great stay, I plan to go back again and would recommend to others. Mucha gracias to all the wonderful staff and to the manager Leak, looking forward to seeing you again next February!

I had a very bad experience there, last June I spent only only day , it was clean, nice view and also cheap , the problem was when I checked out and they made me wait 30 minutes because the towels we used had probably make up and they told me wait until they washed it to make sure the stain could come off or I had to pay for it, I wonder if they just did that because I’m Hispanic , I did not see doing that for the Brazilians or Spanish or French , maybe because my skin color , I have never felt discrimination in my own country , not even in United States where I live . I wrote a huge complaind while waiting for the tawl to be washed and nobody apologized to me , there was no manager to complaind , Racismo en su máxima expresión .

The place is nice, good location, cheap, people super friendly! Is has a gorgeous garden with a nice pool. The restaurant is good we order a Tlayuda and ceviche. Nice beer and clamato. If you are staying at the hotel you get a discount, plus you don't have to over pay for sunbeds and umbrellas at the beach. However, at the hotel sometimes they don't supervise people on the pool doing not so nice things. I saw a kid taking his parts out and peeing in the pool! Disgusting! Kids jumping at the pool and splashing over and over again. The rooms are basic ok for a couple of nights, just careful with the spiders and lots of mosquitos in the cabins.
